Any chance that Al has a bad tube in the amp section that is causing super high start up currents and causing the power supply to act up? I know in the Menace if you hot start it it'll go arcy-sparky in the rectifiers (overdraw).

I work out so I can eat what I want. I am not an endurance athlete, don't want to be one, but would like to trim down a bit while still not worrying about caloric intake. The only way to do that is to work out a bit so that's what I do. I've had 5% body fat before, I don't see it ever happening again.

If you're going to use GPS on the bike I'd recommend not having it mounted anywhere and simply relying on the audible instructions. I don't want anything visually distracting mounted to my bike. I know some people do it, but it doesn't sit well with me.

I really like the Magellan 4250 that I got for Christmas this past year. It's cheap (~$125), the stock map has quite a bit of current information, around me at least and the screen is reasonably sized.. It's certainly not snazzy or top of the line and I like its GUI better than the TomTom's that I've seen.

John, The only good news is that from your description it doesn't sound like a HD failure so at least the content of the drive may be recoverable. I'm in the "take it somewhere" camp.

Crikey, my parent's house is an AT&T deadzone as well. Once again, as close as a mile and you get 5 bars of at least Edge service. At least the map is right this time and shows the "no coverage" zone correctly.

Be forewarned that that type of stair outside a door may or may not be code compliant in your area. Otherwise there's probably no need to have anything at 12" o.c., 16" should be plenty close enough to adequately support the plywood.

Went to the local (25 miles away) AT&T corporate store for what should have been a 15 activation and account creation process. Over an hour later I finally got out of the. The sales rep, while inputting my data, forgot to put a '0' in the contract duration. So he called "Care" to get them to reset it, they refused. He asked his supervisor who thought he could do it. He spent 45 minutes fighting with their worthless management software (ironically called "Intelligence") and finally they just canceled the first phone number and added a second to the account with the correct information. I guess the only good to come out of it is that they felt so bad they gave me a free Otterbox case ($50). The only other slightly disappointing thing is that I get 5 bars of 3G service to within 1 mile of my house, then it drops off a cliff and I get basically nothing at the house. Frack. It's the same for my Verizon phone so it's not surprising, but I'd hope to at least have mediocre coverage outside the house so that a repeater might help indoors. Doesn't look like anything short of a new tower (unlikely due to population density) is going to help.
