  1. I've heard some bellyaching online about Far being too commercial. F me, I think it's fantastic and boofrigityhoo if it actually gets some radio play and she doesn't have to be a niche artist anymore. It's fun as hell to listen to. And the previews that I heard had pretty horrid production and I was worried but now having heard the actual album I can say it's worlds better and perfectly listenable.
  2. I just hope it works for all versions of Vista.
  3. Not to mention that he can invoke sibilance with the use of different a power cord.
  4. There is no current, commercially available amplifier that uses a similar tube compliment in an OTL topology. Used examples would include the Eddie Current HD300 and Wheatfield HA-2 but I sincerely doubt you'll have much luck finding either and both are really only suitable for high-impedance headphones. At least that's all the comes to mind. The closest thing really is the Woo WA22 which is still a trafo-coupled design and may not be to your liking.
  5. Ugh, teach me to post while working on a deadline. Massive fail in that post there was. This begs the question, what's the amp tube compliment for this thing? I honestly don't know.
  6. Oh mama. For those unfamiliar.

Yup, the link is technically for both, even though it only says one of the titles. Also, she'll be appearing on NPR's Morning Edition tomorrow ~6:50AM and if you miss that I'd hope she would be included in the podcast.

Agreed, and the audio quality is remarkably good for streaming media. I really need to swing by my local music store and pick the album up.

  10. Not entirely surprising. Even if he's just using it for the 5U4's it's getting whacked for 6A and operating in a fully enclosed space. Now if he's running any of the other filaments off of it too...well, I think we know where this is going.
  11. I closed my eyes and tried to read the thread, I liked it better that way. Does that mean that the debate makes a difference?
  12. Ken, Not sure. I know that Kevin came up with a Jig for working on one of Mikhail's amps. I'll ask him about it.
  13. You're laughing with me, right?
  14. I didn't take it as criticism, I was just joking around. But a simple search of Mouser using "2n3904" yielded many results including parts man'f by Fairchild.
  15. Yeah the guy who put that together is a jackass. Or it could be that the BOM is 4 years old and references parts that were obsoleted by ROHS compliance.
  16. The forum software, while powerful, cannot help him in this regard.
  17. Already given, anyone who takes the discourse that went on in this thread seriously enough to make even a veiled threat like that gets some quality time to think about it.
  18. How about you take a week to think about that comment?
  19. 3 custom machined drilling templates to hopefully help in modifying the Extreme chassis in an efficient way so they can actually breath a little.
  20. I suppose, yes. Stating that there is some "rule" about using silver plated wire for analog signals and that it inherently sounds "bright and irritating" is fracken nonsense. I guess I just broke my own rule.
  21. Agreed. My rule is I won't dignify blatant stupidity with a real response.
  22. Thanks for that link Ethan, they certainly present some interesting options that I'll have to dig through.
  23. I would not suggest going higher than 24V unless you have headphones that you know are going to need an enormous amount of voltage swing. 24V isn't that far away from the max the 8610 is rated for too (26V) and it's better to have a little safety margin.
  24. I got the same email from them Peter but thanks for posting. I've got too many balls in the air right now and will have to revisit the desktop at a later date. It's lower on the priority list than others.
