  2. If rumors are to be believed, yes.
  3. Todd is not fond of updating his signature, he's rocking the HD800s these days. And thanks for all the kind words about the build guys. It was a labor of love building it so I'm glad it went to a good home.
  4. No, no, no, you've got this all wrong, it's an "aftermarket" cable so therefore it's more expensive. Don't make yourself responsible for it needing to sound better.
  5. Yup, he's crazy about putting those things together.
  6. A floating Thorens?
  7. Do those caps short signal to ground? If so it might not be so great to use them on the RCA loop outs. At a minimum I'd check with Justin.
  8. You have now officially lost me, best of luck with your search.
  9. I didn't take your response seriously.
  10. I'd rather take my chances with noise than introduce a trafo into the mix. Talk about an expensive (to do it right) solution to a problem that probably doesn't exist!

  12. I'm with Todd, for $700-$900 it'd better be pretty fracken capable and not just a giant Ipod Touch. I'm already pretty non-plussed by the lack of keyboard, a lot of screen real estate is going to get eaten by that every time to you type something.
  13. Except for that pesky solid state requirement.

  15. I am of the opinion that it is a bad idea to look for an amp to drive both headphones and speakers. Unless you want the binding posts for the K1ks or something like that?
  16. Hello there Vincent-Fitz, nice to meet you.
  17. That might work, sure. You'd need a bunch of fairly specific cables but otherwise what it means is that the skipjack keeps all grounds separate throughout the switching process. That's pretty unique in my experience.
  18. If you can't tell whether or not the cable connects to both drivers separately or just one how the hell are we supposed to help you?
  19. No, you'd have lost half the information going through the switchbox so it would not be a simple feat to recreate the lost half. It really wouldn't be hard to build a balanced switch box though.
  20. I can't see how it'd be a problem, but you should probably wait till someone else weighs in.
  21. Assuming the balanced output stage of the DAC is the better one that's how I would do it. It is worth checking how each output is developed, for example on the Hertsens the SE output is essentially just half the XLR output (the in phase portion) so there should be no difference between taking the SE output from the RCA jacks or using XLR to RCA cables. But some DAC's have a great balanced output stage but then run that signal through add'l circuitry to create the SE output. In that case I'd probably use XLR to RCA cables.
