  1. Trust me, just because something supports a load temporarily does not mean that it is permanently capable of doing the same thing.
  2. The structural engineer in me cringes at how those are mounted. I'd never let anyone walk under those if it was my house. Yikes.
  3. My suggestion would be to cut it even larger and make a contrasting ring of wood outside the tweeter so that it looks intentional.
  4. Elephas, The trimpots (gold screws) are recessed slightly but are still accessible without removing the top panel and yes, exactly like your SRM-T1W it will involve sticking probes into the stax jack and making adjustments. I did it with the BHSE when I had it on loan from Justin for the NYC meet, it is not difficult.

  6. Yes, it is good (so far) and I look forward to getting to know it for a while. I'm hoping it'll also serve as motivation to get busy on another project that's been languishing a bit as of late.
  7. Yes but with the caveat that paypal won't offer you anything in the way of protection or means to recover the funds so I'd only advise using it for transactions that you're 100% sure of.
  8. I think I may know a member, emails will be dispatched tomorrow.
  9. I didn't buy anything. I agreed to do some work on Voltron's SRM-T1W in exchange for a little loan.
  10. Nice Ken, good choice there. And congrats Deepak. A stat amp arrived at my door today as well so I can start rocking to the L-sigs tonight.
  11. Welcome to Head-Case Brady and not that I have the final opinion on such matters but I think your post is just fine. I think Velo will appreciate the heads-up.
  12. Movie posters everywhere just became offended.
  13. You can adjust the BHSE bias without removing the top panel, just wait for instructions from Justin.

Where's the "go whitey" version of the site?
  15. Dear Mr. Monkey, We recently learned of the trouble that you are having integrating your new DAC into your home. We at the Humane DAC Society can help. We understand that sometimes DACs don't work with families and that's where we come in. For a modest fee we can place any of your existing DAC's into good, loving homes and make sure that they receive the kindness and affection they deserve. If we can be of assistance with this matter please don't hesitate to call us at 1-800-SAVE-DAC.
  16. Of course you can, join the group!

  18. Outstanding work!
  19. Shit Boo, sorry to hear that.
  20. Did you pick up a third on vacation Stretch?
  21. Well, I wasn't really planning on doing that at all. I was just messing around trying to catch the ever-illusive bolt of lightning, I have a thing for lightning. It wasn't until I was scrolling through the images on my laptop that I had the idea to string them together. It was just kind of lucky that I had that many shot at the same aperture/shutter so they fit.
  22. Here, let's see if this works. edit - it's only playing about half the sequence, but you get the idea of how fast stuff was going by.
  23. I found a similar tutorial for making the movie in iMovie and the bottom line is that :03 is too slow, I need something in the :01 range which is too low. And making the sequence last longer won't help since the frame rate will actually be slower by making identical frames out of the same image. Thankfully a bit better googling by me turned up a freeware program called FramebyFrame which is pretty cool and easy to use. I've made the little 2 second movie and uploaded it to youtube. It's listed as "processing" so I'll check either later or tomorrow morning to see if it goes live. edit - unfortunately Peter there's no lightning in the video, just the clouds rolling by over a period of about 10 minutes (compressed into 2 seconds).
  24. Thanks for the compliments, it was pretty wild to see it live. And no, I don't think that's Bill, just typical summer T-storms.
  25. If he's smart he won't agree to build one for anyone at a price below $10k (minimum). This is not Head-Fi, he can charge whatever the frack he wants here.
