  1. That can't really be a good sign, can it Al? I don't think I've ever gotten anything that hot and I'm not really keen on trying any time soon.
  2. Today was more of the same. Hotter than balls so much time was spent in the kiddie pool with Lily and mom. It was the last day of summer for my wife so we celebrated with Lobster for dinner (it's pretty cheap right now @$4.99/lb). These parts of the day were excellent. Decided to try and do some maintenance on our water filtration system, that did not go well. Ripped o-ring = massive leak = no filtered water until I can get a replacement. Tested the balanced PIMETA project without a pot which was good/bad. Good that the pot was 90% of the problem, bad that the right channel has pretty awful hiss which is more than likely a result of some shoddy soldering (not done by me). I have zero motivation to work on this project as a result.
  3. For me it's the cost of creating a trafo coupled switchbox that holds no appeal. I don't think at face value that trafos are anything more evil than tons of other stuff you're likely to find in the signal path.
  4. Al, very glad that Claire is ok. I'm sure you'll take the necessary steps to make sure that she is well taken care of. I'd say lawyer up but that'd be redundant.
  5. Even now the humidity is still in the 60s, I'd guess it was every bit of that earlier when the temps were in the mid 90s. It was, in a word, disgusting.
  6. Mowed. Hung out with Lily in the kiddie pool for an hour or so. I just looked, it's 89 in the shade so I don't expect to go out much for the rest of the day.
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. Would you pay that much for a switchbox?
  9. The theory I was taught was that a slightly oily barrel was better than a slightly rusty one.
  10. In - check Team Name - check Custom Logo - check
  11. If rumors are to be believed, yes.
  12. Todd is not fond of updating his signature, he's rocking the HD800s these days. And thanks for all the kind words about the build guys. It was a labor of love building it so I'm glad it went to a good home.
  13. No, no, no, you've got this all wrong, it's an "aftermarket" cable so therefore it's more expensive. Don't make yourself responsible for it needing to sound better.
  14. Yup, he's crazy about putting those things together.
  15. A floating Thorens?
  16. Do those caps short signal to ground? If so it might not be so great to use them on the RCA loop outs. At a minimum I'd check with Justin.
  17. You have now officially lost me, best of luck with your search.
  18. I didn't take your response seriously.
  19. Nice Elephas!
  20. I'd rather take my chances with noise than introduce a trafo into the mix. Talk about an expensive (to do it right) solution to a problem that probably doesn't exist!
  21. June 5th and 6th.
  22. I'm with Todd, for $700-$900 it'd better be pretty fracken capable and not just a giant Ipod Touch. I'm already pretty non-plussed by the lack of keyboard, a lot of screen real estate is going to get eaten by that every time to you type something.
