  1. Actually one of my mine gripes with the PS3 is how awful it is at handling audio. It sorts tracks alphabetically, wtf is up with that? I've looked and can't find a way to change this in any setting and somewhat surprisingly see very few references to it online.
  2. Bit of a bummer? Who cares if you have to throw a disc in to enable streaming? Are you seriously that effing lazy?
  3. It is your best interest to at least make someone else do some leg work on it. This refi will end up saving me $100k in interest over the life of the loan.
  4. The company that already holds our mortgage actually offered the easiest program without even asking, they sent us a letter. My assumption is that they are doing whatever they can to maintain their good customers even if it means less $$ for them (lower interest rate, no closing costs, etc.).
  5. Started the process of refinancing our house as re-convinced myself that any large transaction involving a bank is essentially a racket. Example: After 2 days of back and forth here's where I ended up with one lender. Me: Ok, the rate looks good, monthly payment is good, so what would the closing costs be on that loan? Loan Officer: $2200 Me: So that's all I'd be liable for at closing? LO: Well, that and any fees. Me: Fees? Like what? LO: Title insurance. Me: How much is that? LO: $1000 (this is NH's fault, not his) Me: Ok, that is what it is, anything else? LO: Well, with the loan we're looking at right now there's also a funding fee. Me: What does that amount to? LO: $5000 Me: Wait, what? LO: Yes, the lender charges a funding fee based on the amount of the loan. Me: That's ridiculous. LO: [silence] Me: I think it's safe to say that I have no interest in that program. LO: [silence] So I ended up back at square one which is a program that lowers my rate over 1.25% and has exactly zero fees associated with it. What a waste of time.
  6. Probably makes a lot more sense, at least to me it does.
  7. Last week was such a disappointment. I'll get you in the playoffs, Jeff!
  8. Looking great Kevin!

Leave the case propped open for a few weeks, it'll mostly go away. Neither of mine smells much any more and they are great for meets if nothing else.
  10. Translation: it is difficult to remove all of the hum from a tube amp and most people won't notice/care unless someone else points it out the them. And yes, I'm being serious, it can be next to impossible to get a tube amp with a dead quiet background and in most cases (for a man'f) it isn't worth it to do so since it's just wasted effort easily blamed on the tubes.
  11. For the hum/buzz? Unlikely.
  12. Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance
  13. That's pretty strange Dinny since I tested your amp with my ETY ER4Ps and it was silent. I wouldn't have though the 5cs were that much more sensitive, but I just checked and the 5cs are rated at 119db/mW and the 4Ps @ 108db/mW. Just goes to show you what assuming something will do...
  14. IIRC Matt's beta is a two box design so it should be pretty free of EMI at least from the perspective of the beta22 trafos. Depending on what the amp is sitting on there may be some other component contributing though. The hiss is probably just due to the gain of the amp and could also be source related. In fact, it'd be worth trying it without a source attached.
  15. Thanks, I think I will. You can feel free to go back to lurk mode although I've taken that decision out of your hands.
  16. While I agree about Vista (it's buggy as all hell on my home laptop) I've had nothing but good luck with XP from a stability standpoint with no user interference required. It's still my preferred OS given the software I have to run. OS-X has certainly been more stable on my macbook than any other OS I've run but I also don't mess around with that laptop like I do my other computers.
  17. If you're lucky, just . But it might be as bad as . Don't be an .
  18. Google should be able to help.

  20. Not sure I could do a pair for $14 but I could probably bang out a set pretty cheaply.
  21. Make sure you routinely check them against a known good meter and also replace their batteries often. I just checked mine, evidently line voltage at my house is currently ~180VAC, or 121 after replacing the battery.
  22. Tuesday : Mostly sunny. Highs around 40. Northwest winds around 10 mph, becoming west in the afternoon.
  23. I sincerely wish the recording quality was better on that album. The distortion is a major buzz kill for me and I just don't get how stuff like that makes it through post-production?
  24. Happy Birthday Gene, there should be a present waiting for you at home!
