  1. Finished the day off yesterday by doing a massive amount of cleaning and organizing in the DIY section of the house. I also spent a while installing the newest member of the Nugget Audio family and yes, I realize that given the state of my workbench it seems impossible to imagine that I did any cleaning/organizing. I'm going to build a small scale flexy to sit on top of the table that will serve as both an equipment stand and also speaker stands. Already, it's clear to me why people love these monitors even with just the SB3 as the source.

  3. Looks great on the inside too Marc!
  4. Two words: god damn.
  5. Obviously I started my day the same way, stopped by Todd/skullguise's on the way home to pick up moar stuffs and then got home in time to put Lily down for a nap. Now trying to deal with all the stuffs and clean up my work and storage area in preparation for operation: QUAD. In other words a Sunday full of win so far. Jin, let me know when you want me to send out the router.
  6. Testing, testing, 123. Yup, works just fine now. One other problem, all of the forum galleries got renumbered so that previously linked images now point to completely random things. See Dinny's DAC FS thread for a good example.
  7. Shoveled 10" of snow off the back deck which was actually fun since it's sunny and ~30F here today.
  8. Justin just posted about the same problem and came up with a workaround. If I hit the reply with quote button twice it opens a new page with the quoted post and I can submit that reply. Crappy, but at least it works.
  9. Just tried again, no can do. I want pancakes. I'm on Firefox 3.5.7 FWIW.
  10. I'd also love it if I could simply reply to a post and quote it. When I hit "reply with quote" it opens a sub window that has the quote, allows me to type but gives me no option to submit the damn post. If I hit the quick reply button at the bottom of the page it does nothing. If I hit the go advanced button again, nothing. If I hit reply to thread I get a new page, without the fracken quote. I'm either retarded or this is way harder than it should be.
  11. I'd love it if the line between post and sig was a little more prominent.
  12. The Parasound is all yours.
  13. Arg, I do not need either of those...
  14. My DSP doesn't have either of those POS transformers any more.
  15. We were lucky. Our lender approached us (unsolicited) and offered a program that had no fees, no appraisal required and most importantly no closing costs. Granted, it did not have the lowest absolute rate available but required no outlay of cash and very little hassle (paperwork). I don't think I'll ever feel really bad about having a rate of 5.125% considering the other programs I researched all carried fees and closing costs of $5k+.
  16. And complain about channel matching with sensitive headphones/IEMs.
  17. Indeed. It went as well as could be expected in an economy with banks that are effed beyond belief.
  18. Or you could just be like other man'f and tell them the gain is X when in reality it isn't.
  19. I hereby proclaim them JH13 killers, having heard neither.
  20. Happy Birthday Dom!
  21. The chip whores will love it but my results with EAD in general have not been great. My DSP 1000 required a bunch of work to get it running properly and now has a significantly modded power supply. So I guess if I had to say anything it'd be that if you get it and it works it'll probably sound very good.
  22. Finalized paperwork for refinancing the house.
  23. I decided I'd call an expert and spoke with my brother last night who's a mechanical engineer and has quite a bit of experience with rapid prototyping machines like this. His advice was that if you expected anything other than a prototype out of it you were doomed to be disappointed. The 3 major weaknesses he noted: 1. While the stated accuracy sounds nice (.1mm), it really isn't all that good. It'll result in noticeable surface imperfections and stair stepping artifacts as the machine lays down the layers. He went on to say that round or curved objects would fare even worse. 2. Given the above he also said it's worth mentioning that it's very difficult to do any post processing of the prototype. What this means is that the material does not respond well to finishing techniques like sanding, sculpting, etc. 3. The results of the printing process are not permanent or particularly durable. While some bonding between the layers of material certainly takes place it doesn't hold up in the long run under use. So what all that really means is that this thing sort of "is what it is" and if any of us had hopes of producing permanent parts with it (like knobs, enclosures, whatever) it'd be a bad idea.
  24. In preparation for her new album due next week... Patty Griffin - Children Running Through
