Yes, absolutely. The guy who started CE used to work at FPE. All I've ever sent them are FPE files. I know you're kidding, but I'd rather my fabricator direct their efforts elsewhere.

Got link? Digikey has some of both series but they do get spendy quickly.

Thanks, I'll take a look at those and see what I can find and I've had good luck with their products as well.

I completely agree that the actual action of changing the voltage should be difficult (not something that could be bumped) but on the flip side I want it to be easily understood so the user doesn't struggle trying to figure out if they're doing it correctly. I'm also torn on the idea of the selector being tied to the fuse drawer. I also understand your point about having that switch on the back side for safety, it wouldn't bother me to have it back there even if I used another front panel switch to take care of powering the amp.

Your CD player is not exactly "average" in its abilities.

I don't know if this will be a good topic or not but what the heck, I'll shitcan it later if necessary. Basically, the idea is to post if you're having trouble sourcing a particular part. Not one you forgot to order, but something new that perhaps you haven't used before and you'd like input on. Example (and the reason I started this thread): I'm looking for an IEC module that contains a voltage selector switch. So far I've found 4 that I like, which I've listed below. #1: Digi-Key - 603-1149-ND (Manufacturer - 10SB3S) Pros: simple all in one, filter could be a plus Cons: voltage selection is not user friendly, don't need the built in power switch #2: Digi-Key - 603-1144-ND (Manufacturer - 06AK5) Pros: much better voltage selector Cons: i hate snap in modules #3: Digi-Key - CCM1375-ND (Manufacturer - PE0SSS000) Pros: good mount, good voltage selector Cons: don't need the switch #4: Digi-Key - 486-1090-ND (Manufacturer - 4301.0001) Potentially perfect, just not entirely sure how the voltage selector works. I read the data sheet and probably need to do so again. Anyone have any bright ideas other than me sitting down with the Digikey catalog for a few hours?

I enjoyed the heck out of it the first time but didn't get around to it last night. I'm falling way behind on TV, and I don't watch that much. What I need to find out is if the revised/new Pilot is any different.

My plan is similar and if I didn't already own a dac, cdp and preamp i'd give the CDP-2 serious thought. One thing that I do worry about is the quality of the variable outputs, my prior experience with variable outputs on CDPs has been less than stellar. I had a very nice Yamaha player that had a remote variable output (cost ~$500 back in 1998, yikes) and the fixed output was clearly better. I'm also not a huge fan of being required to use the remote to do simple things like adjust volume or switch sources. In my case everything will be within arm's reach.

I'd highly recommend anyone shopping FPE's services to also contact Cam-Expert to see who can offer the lowest price. CE has typically been both cheaper and quicker for me on the East coast, I know left-coasters make up the difference in shipping a lot of the time.

If it carries a monthly fee it's a 100% no go and I think will be for lots of folks. I'm really hoping that they've signed up enough content providers to provide whispernet-like "free" internet access and it'd damn well better have integrated wifi. I have no interest in another ~$30/mo data plan for something that will sit on my own wireless network for a good portion of the time. I guess it'll be interesting to see what they release tomorrow for details.

Now all you Talatalk guys need to do is remove the stupid auto-sig line from the bottom of your replies.

Yeah, I think the color buttons are broke but colors are still working, see my sig for proof (I think). [edit]Or maybe it's just for some folks? Test of red text using button. Test of Orange.

I'm going to re-watch the Caprica Pilot this week in preparation for new episodes starting this Friday.

Yup, that's it as far as I know.

Lots of forum search functions seem broke. Example #1 - if I click on a user and hit find posts it seems to find a random selection of posts by that user, but doesn't provide any preview of the posts (just titles) and also doesn't find very many posts. Example #2 - if I click on the # of posts in a thread it still brings up the list of who has posted how many times but if I click a number, which previously would have displayed a list of posts by that user in a particular thread, it just again shows a random list of posts by that user in all sorts of different threads and doesn't appear to even be chronological.
-
Yes, that is excellent. One more minor request - when viewing stuff like the "recent posts" option there isn't much differentiation between the thread and poster information. It'd be sweet if either by color or some other signifier the two things could be more easily delineated. Oddly, on my phone the poster info shows up larger than the thread title, one more reason to buy tapatalk I guess.

I think it has more to do with a lot of folks not running HC in the full window while browsing. I know I run a partial window a lot of the time to allow for quick switching between different applications.

For now the SB3 is the source/preamp but that's due to change within a week. Ultimate goal is to case up the TP Ventus as a preamp and get the EAD DAC back from Mark and use that in the stack as the D/A stage and source selection device. The SB3 "stand" is my Thorens CD player which will remain is disc spinny thing in this rig. It's a bit of a quirky beast but the smallish footprint helps.

This seems like a good "pics or ban" moment.

So can I play now too or are my QUADs not worth?

It'd be interesting to see a comparison between this new model and say a PS3.
