  1. I really need to get busy building.
  2. Thanks for the well wishes guys, the knee is not in good shape this morning, i.e. walking is not really an option. I had a 9am appointment with the doc, of course since about 90% of the surrounding area is without power they were of course closed. If it gets much below freezing there are going to be some truly hurting folks around here. On my way to the closed doc's office I had to drive through two areas of ~6" standing water across pretty main roads (each about 100' long) where the river had crested the banks. There was also some major tree damage as a result of the wind last night, I saw a few completely uprooted trees the largest of which had to be in the 16 to 18" diameter range. I'm now debating a trip the ER, but since it just started snowing I'm not entirely sure I'm up for dealing with that combination.
  3. Happy Birthday!!
  4. The meter on my Monster Power unit act like a Vu meter as the lights flick on and off. I did not realize that NH had a hurricane season, but evidently it does, in February.
  5. Evidently I effed up my knee pretty good at the gym today. It had been bothering me in a minor way for the past few weeks, not enough to keep me from working out, just annoying. Today I was midway through a 5k run, cruising along at 7.5mph when all of a sudden wham, sharp pain. I hit stop and tried to shake it out, no joy, lifted for the remainder of the time I had. Now having sat at my desk for two hours I've got a pretty pronounced limp when I try to walk. Not good.
  6. Yup, they should work just fine with any binding post setup to accept banana plugs. Spring-clip speaker terminals need not apply though.
  7. Rachel Yamagata - Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart
  8. I don't even notice it (it's not a heavy watch) unless the shirt I'm wearing has a particularly tight cuff.
  9. At my cuff link, like every other watch that I own.
  10. My Suunto is 49.5mm and no longer looks all that huge to me but part of that is that it's all black. I'd certainly never get anything larger and for a dress watch I'd go smaller.
  11. My understanding is that if your wife works and takes FMLA leave than you would be ineligible. One of you can take it, but not both. Just be aware that FMLA leave is, by default, unpaid leave unless your company/employer has specifically adopted a policy for paid leave. Also, if you or your wife's company has fewer than 50 employees the company is exempt from offering FMLA leave. Google will be your friend on this but as a start you could do some reading here.
  12. Good luck with that and make sure you do your own research. We almost had to involve a lawyer with my wife's school since the HR person got it wrong, not once, or twice, but three times and finally my wife had to quote the HR manual to her and send her a copy of it.
  13. FS: Woo Audio GES - Lower price. - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio That wouldn't be a bad starting point, Jacob, if you could talk him down just a bit lower.
  14. You know there's only one solution to the active desktop question - 12L.
  15. If all goes well over the next night or two I might have something that'll ease a great deal of pain. Or cause significant pain that you won't have it on hand for the meet.
  16. That rig wouldn't give you bragging rights around the office? What are you office mates running that come anywhere near to competing with that?
  17. I love how the price is "firm" so you can't even bait him with offers of $100. What an ass.
  18. My suggestion, based purely on speculation would be something like SRM-717, 404LE with the source of your choice. Yes, it's not top shelf, but I'm guessing that like me you don't or won't get to really actively listen while working and that there will always be some level of ambient noise that tramples over the finer details.
  19. NoNoNoNoNoNo's situation has as much to do with other things as it does his purchase and subsequent flipping of the 2.7. It's not like he was banned here or at Head-Fi for one specific reason or a particular action he took.
  20. I've always had it happen with checks and felt it was perfectly reasonable to do so since it's not like they should be at risk for the check I just deposited. But with fracken cash, I mean come on. And you'd think they'd see I have 10x the deposit amount in other, linked accounts... I mean, I'm not a rich man by any stretch but I've never cost this bank a dime.
  21. For once in a very long while there is actually money going into that account, rather than a continuous stream out of it. I'm as shocked as they are.
  22. For a bit of irony I figured I'd post this example of how financial institutions treat different levels of customers. I went to my bank at lunch and deposited a relatively sizable sum of cash, as in a wad of $100 bills. I just logged into my account to check on the status of a paypal xfer and saw that they had only credited my account with $1000 and that the remainder of the deposit was "under review". WTF is there to review about actual currency?!?
  23. Open it up, I'd guess the truth is in there and not on the panels. Otherwise, if it's a 2.6 I hope you didn't pay for a 2.7.
