  1. It is, at least in my opinion, a horrible idea regardless of gain setting.
  2. They are quite nice for PTP work.
  3. That's damn near a darwin award right there. Great plan, wrap an already hot-running portable HD with insulation that blocks 90% of the airflow around the device and holds heat in.

Reeeeeeeeeeeee... A hell of a fun little viewing, even multiple times. I did a little research after I first saw it: took 4 months to build the machine and something like 60 takes before they got it right.
  5. FIFY Not sure how I feel about the listening that will occur this weekend. Let the anguish ensue I suppose.
  6. Good effort, though.
  7. If Haj forgets odds are good I'll have a few.
  8. Took a nap, also known as getting an MRI. Of course that doesn't mean jack, I don't get the results till next week at my follow up appointment. Still, I can think of worse ways to "work".
  9. Salty for the win! DEW EEET
  10. 1. Here's to hoping the MRI just shows irritation. 2. Glad Mrs. Monkey found gainful employment again so soon.
  11. Unless the 12L's simply won't work for your application given their size in which case either the 9's or 11's would be the right compromise.
  12. Thanks guys (and gal of course), had a good start to the day picking up my favorite morning beverage from my local Turkish coffee shop. Exciting birthday plans include the MRI this afternoon and then a quiet dinner with my two favorite ladies tonight. More appropriate shenanigans are scheduled for this weekend.
  13. Specifically the HE60s, I love them.
  14. No real news from Doc visit today other than there's no obvious damage. Most likely culprit is bruised or torn meniscus. I'm going to meet with a radiologist some time in the next few days to see if an MRI can be done given the screws I already have in there (which I really need to get a picture of). The two Docs who looked at my X-Rays today think that it should be able to provide meaningful info and I'd vastly prefer that to exploratory surgery.
  15. Possible spreadsheet here - https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AqT3b5JN2i_fdG1XdTIwdWJub3dfbzltZDhnLWtfLVE&hl=en Note, all users have full read/write access so be careful.
  16. Measuring it "wide open" would be the way to go if you do since IIRC any attenuation is done in the digital domain and not reflective of altering the output gain, just reducing the signal input at the output stage.
  17. Might I suggest that it'd be a cool idea to compile (and directly enter) this information into a Google Spreadsheet? I'd suggest column headings of : Make/Model/Test Tone Freq/Meter Used/ACV as a start and have the sheet auto convert to dB.
  18. Who are the asshats handing out patents when you can patent "unlocking a device by performing gestures on an unlocking image"? How fracking generic can you get. Someone should patent the extraction buggers by picking ones nose.
  19. Great pictures, Gene and Steve.
  20. I'm still talking about trying to get it to isolate posts by a specific user in a given thread, I can't get that to work like it used to.
  21. It'd be nice if we could get the in-thread search features back working, but it's nice to know that there's at least a way to search for individual posts by Forum.
  22. A. There is no chance of a no show in Boston. I'll rope Ian into helping me load my gear if need be but I should be ok. B. The news will be what it is and it'll be ok regardless.
  23. Do yourself a favor, do not hear them. They are one of the few things on my list of "should haves" that I actually regret not buying at some point.
  24. I'll have my balanced HF-1s with me. And I think we should set the WES up with the OPUS if Dave is still willing to bring it. I should be able to whip up another pair of balanced XLRs before the meet.
