Happy Thanksgiving to the best internet family out there. Like my tall friend much pie was consumed, but not too much. There's no such thing as too much pie.

^^^ Looks delicious.

Not today but yesterday I had two what I call “Real Men of Genius” moments. #1. Had leftover poutine and thought to myself, I bet that would make a hell of an omelette. Result was yes, indeed, it was delicious. #2. Had leftover smoked pulled pork. Decided nachos were required. It was a good day.

I was getting ready for a bike ride this afternoon and hunting through the dryer for some gloves when I spun the drum by hand and it made a huge bang. Hmmm, that's weird, says I. I find the glove and attempt to restart the dryer and no joy, no spin, no heat, no nothing. So I make the executive decision that this is not going to ruin my ride and inform the family that laundry is off limits for a while. Got in a good ride with two local buds and then got to work. Initial prognosis, the belt is still around the drum so deeper we go... Problem found, the belt had slipped off the idler pulley and then the spring that loads the idler had fallen off so the whole drum had to come out to get at things to perform the relatively straight forward repair. About a half hour later everything was back together and working. Worst part is that the belt is worn so I'll get to do at least half of this again sometime sooner than I'd like but at least it's working again.

Cleaned the MAF sensor on the Beemer yesterday, reset the codes on the computer and have logged 75ish miles without the CEL coming back on so let's hope either that was the actual cause or it was just a random hiccup.

@Voltron - This is crazy. I literally listened to Morphine Thursday night for the first time in probably 5 or more years.

^^^ Late to the party but I think you'll like the TRX a lot. By all accounts its way more stupid than anyone needs but pegs the fun meter at 10, as long as you don't mind something like 10mpg. Me - CEL came on in the BMW. Code reader says it's related to the engine running too lean. The interwebs say it's like a dirty or failed MAF sensor or a vacuum leak so I'll start tomorrow by cleaning the MAF and resetting the code and going from there.

Happy belated, nums!

@Gilmam - post the sticker from the power supply? I'm not sure if we're talking "brick" here or more complex. I could read above but I'm tired. Also, just because the unit isn't powering up doesn't mean the PS is dead. Do you have a multimeter?

I have to say that I've been hugely impressed by the little Breville Bambino (I guess technically I have the "Plus" but they didn't call it back then). It's dead simple to use and my taste buds tell me it produces as good or better shots/drinks than my local coffee shops with precious little effort. It's just one piece of at least a three-part chain (coffee, grinder, brewer) so buying it or any other decent quality piece and failing at the others does you less good than setting yourself up with good or better pieces at each point. As this thread has shown, you can clearly invest a lot more and I'm not arguing that the results aren't better, but I've hit a nice sweet spot for me that doesn't drive SWMBO insane. That's my 2c.

I know @The Monkey is too cool for school these days but that doesn't mean we can't wish him a happy birthday!

Sweet, can't wait for some pics.

Looks freakin’ delicious, Al.

@luvdunhill - was thinking some more about the meter pic posted above and the "hidden" nature of the needle, how hard or accessible is the needle and would some whiteout or white paint be an easy solution to make its position more visible against the black backdrop?

Happy Birthday!

Sorry about the seizure issues, Jeff, but the crate looks really nice.

Thanks for posting that Doug, I don’t get enough art in my life these days and that was a touching piece.

Before launching it somewhere definitely get some batteries for the volt/ohm meter and check the fuses the right way (not visual) as one or more of them could be shot and you just can't see it. It'd also be good to check to make sure power is actually getting to the amp and then see if it's getting beyond the switch (like Kevin suggested) and then check a few other things. Hard to imagine that it just went poof one day without any sign/smell/etc.

Second this and the fact that evidently similar issues happened at the same show two years ago...

If you can, inspect the solder joints at the tube sockets. I had a power amp develop a cold joint at one and it cause enough of a problem that it cooked a trace on the PCB and pretty much rendered the unit a total loss.
