RIP father of DOTU.

Ryan, Just bear in mind that a 3Mbps (megabits) line translates to a real world download speed of roughly 300KB (kilobytes) per second. The "speedboost" that Comcast likes to talk about is only good for about a 1sec burst and not useful for file downloads. So for a 100MB file it would take just under 5 minutes to download, assuming 100% network efficiency. The other thing to consider is that if you're on a wireless network you may simply be limited by proximity and not your actual line speed. I'd run some tests using a utility like Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and see what you're getting for actual, real world speed wherever you normally sit to use your computer. I get my full rated speed (2MB/s) only if my laptop is sitting on the desk next to my router, it's generally about half that if I'm in the living room.

Or you could just, ya know, ride the fracking bike. Me: yesterday was spent mostly dealing with incompetent contractors who decided that they would "engineer" solutions to problems in the field and then tell me about it after the fact. I suspect that unfortunately today will be a SSDD situation.

I suspect they are phasing it out slowly to avoid truly pissing off the Apple Overlords.

Downloading anything of substance on a 3MB line would be pretty painful for me but it's also not uncommon for me to download a gig or more nightly to catch up on various TV programs that Comcast's craptacular DVR doesn't catch.

Aren't there a ton of amps that don't preserve absolute phase? Specifically lots of tube amps, like the Wheatfield HA-2 IIRC. I've flipped the phase switch on multiple sources, I know I can't hear a difference.

I sent Tom a google spreadsheet to use if he wants to.

I was actually going to suggest seeing if the painter could mask off the front panel and do a two tone scheme. I like the veneer idea even better.

WUHOO Stretch!

Jeff, If it were me I'd plug said crappy meter into an outlet and take a picture of the voltage and the exif data in the camera will record the date and time. The elevator may have shut itself down, the hotwater could be simply toast although that would be odd since I'd expect most electric hot water heaters to be running off 240VAC. What really boggles the mind is how part of your apartment is fine. Do you have a sub-panel in your apartment or is it located in a mechanical room somewhere else?

Not sure it's up to me to decide what is acceptable or not but given the thread title, and her ultimately superior level of sanity, I'd suggest that Vicki at least by my co-counsel in selecting a winner. That said, my suggestion for your new custom title, "Has an affection for all things wood" or something like that.

You shave your legs so that when you crash you don't have hair growing through the scabs.

Tom, I'd suggest a simple google doc where people can enter what they'd like to order and their paypal address and if it were me I would insist that the address included with the paypal payment be the delivery address. That should make it as easy as possible for you to process and ship the orders and not have to worry about tracking emails, PM's or whatever to try and figure out what goes where. Just my 2

Great pics, Peter. Thanks for sharing them.

Agreed. I hope the second season isn't too long in coming although they've only ordered another 13 episodes so we could be stuck waiting until March again which would be a shame.
-
They are not allowed to do that in my book... care to point me to a post?
-
Assuming that there wasn't a huge spike I would think that anything that was turned off would probably be ok. The fact that the outlets are still that high is beyond my comprehension, something must have gone way wrong somewhere. edit: I also wonder if this might go along ways towards explaining your bad luck with fridges? I've always been told that they, as an appliance, are not very tolerant of fluctuating line voltage.

Amen.

As usual Frank your first attempt is more impressive than most of us could ever hope for. As for feedback, I got nothing.
-
Whatever you do don't put too much pressure on yourself or the relationship. A lot of my early relationships in life would have gone a lot easier if I'd just chilled the eff out.

I'm man enough to say that she's reason enough for me to check the show out.

x3 on being late to the Fitz party, good for you and I'm glad you're feeling more comfortable in your own skin. One Moderator note, not so much for here but over there. If any of you regardless of race, color, orientation or other factor feels like someone is acting in a discriminatory or otherwise oppressive or hurtful way and don't want to take them on directly please feel free to shoot me a message. This is an area that I have exactly zero tolerance for bullshit.

Car stereo has been going flaky so yesterday I ordered a JVC KW-XR610. I was informed today that it is out of stock and Crutchfield was actually very helpful and offered to split the difference with me and send the next model in the lineup. I chose the first model based on the non-bling-boy appearance and customizable lighting to match the stock dash. It's also sweet that it and the 810 (the one I eventually got) have front panel AUX and USB jacks and can control my iPhone. Hopefully my installer (me) can handle it this weekend without too many smoldering/broken parts.

I also like his ex-wife. I fell in lust with her watching Hung and was rather pleased to see her show up here and have a regular recurring role. She's sofa king sexy.

I love this show. Going to watch the finale tonight and I'm psyched that it's already been picked up for another season.
