Before launching it somewhere definitely get some batteries for the volt/ohm meter and check the fuses the right way (not visual) as one or more of them could be shot and you just can't see it. It'd also be good to check to make sure power is actually getting to the amp and then see if it's getting beyond the switch (like Kevin suggested) and then check a few other things. Hard to imagine that it just went poof one day without any sign/smell/etc.

Second this and the fact that evidently similar issues happened at the same show two years ago...

If you can, inspect the solder joints at the tube sockets. I had a power amp develop a cold joint at one and it cause enough of a problem that it cooked a trace on the PCB and pretty much rendered the unit a total loss.

No, that's helpful. For now I'll carry on with my existing Baratza which to my (likely uncultured) taste buds does just fine for both espresso and French press. And while I appreciate the offer of a manual grinder, I'm clogging the kitchen with stuff as-is and would be unlikely to put it to good use. I'm slowly bringing myself around to the thinking that keeping things that I don't use is useless.

How difficult was the retrofit to the Ode, Jacob? Approximate cost of the different burrs? Any concerns with maintaining calibration sufficient to do espresso with it. I waffle between espresso and French Press mostly (have no patience for pour over, sue me) and while my current grinder is definitely adequate, should anything happen I’d likely look to upgrade a bit.

Since it appears to be a problem on the input side, maybe try some RCA/XLR cables or adapters so that you can bypass the potentially faulty RCA jack?

^^^ What he said. Weeks is but a blink of an eye these days. Me - fudged up a.little programming which coupled with minor machine error almost conspired to kill my progress. I managed to salvage their piece with tolerable errors and suspect the owner/recipient won't notice or care. Onto finishing.

The East coast ping pong table is up and running again. Retirement plaque for the Public Works Officer.

LOL at Tim Cook's Toilet Paper.

Condolences to you and your family, Todd.

True, but it's a dog crate.

Did you? 🙊

Glad you're still with us, Knucks.

Agree, it’s not all that distinguishable from win10 and at least doesn’t introduce anything objectionable into the mix. Which is to say that I don’t really notice switching from machines that are and are not running it.

I wish you were closer, Jeff. I’d certainly take some chunks off your hand. Honestly, get it sorted, list some lots on FB Marketplace or Craigslist at 50% of retail and you can probably make a killing without much effort. Or start with the neighbor and then call in the (almost literal) cavalry in Naaman and see if our resident trophy maker wants a bunch. For some of the boards, if you’re willing, it might be worth it to me to have you cut it to length to fit in a USPS priority box and send it my way for some small projects I’ve got in the works with my mini ping pong table. The medium sized box (14x12x3) might hold a shocking # of BF and would leave good room for length and width. Maybe some food for though there, if you’re up for it.

Condolences Chris and Jimmy, take solace where you can and seek refuge in the company of friends as much as possible. Life can be brutal.

Who cares? Make some fun stuff, or find a local wood nerd to come take a look if you’re worried about making a cutting board out of poisonous wood.

Got the repaired rear wheel back so as long as you can forgive non-matching spokes, all is well. It was a pretty epic day out on the trails, sadly i only had about an hour.

Happy birthday, Marc!

A very happy birthday to you, Peter.

So much progress with this refresh and then they go and put a fucking notch in a laptop display? I literally don't have words for that. How this is in any way, shape, or form better than a slightly larger top bezel is beyond me. My currently laptop has 5/16" bezels and they look plenty small to my eye and in no way objectionable and houses enough crap in the top section to support windows hello (or whatever they call it) pseudo facial recognition for log-in purposes.

I'll start a new thread for this at some point but the Surface Laptop Studio (henceforth SLS) is here and is a pretty impressive device. Not sure I'd be happy to pay retail for it but yay work for ponying up. I've already played with the whiteboard app a bit and it's pretty neat. More follow but enough thread clogging for now.
