  1. You should read the last two pages of this thread and then suggest to me again to try the downgrade using recboot. Here, I'll save you the time.. Recboot nearly nuked my laptop, definitely nuked the phone, somehow in the process itunes killed every backup of the phone that I had consequently trashing every contact, calendar appointment, several apps, etc.
  2. Unfortunately agreed. I feel like we're simply rehashing or at best going through all the same crap again. His little side jobs have been getting less interesting as well. Crud.
  3. I'm not out to kill.
  4. Salty, why the hell would you go to a mall regardless. Malls, blech. In other, related news I spoke with a client who picked up his '4' yesterday. His first comment, "The reception is pretty awful". I've also been noticing that my phone (the 3G from hell) seems to be less than happy about signal strength changes compared to how it was before the *cough* upgrade to ios4. Example, there's a stretch of road on my way to work where I almost always completely lose signal, but it's for less than a mile and it usually picks right back up. Ever since the change to ios4 I've noticed that this dead zone is significantly longer, i.e. streaming radio goes dead for a longer period of time before picking back up. Prior to os4 there would be times when I could get through this entire dead zone on the streaming buffer without a hitch, that hasn't happened once on os4.
  5. Any chance of you sending me the cad file? Or are you using something else to draw these?
  6. http://www.crosman.com/airguns/rifles/break-barrel/BT5M22SNP I'm seriously considering something like this to deal with a few persistent pests around my house.
  7. It's the panel bearing for the shaft extension kit, looks a lot like the front a Neutrik jack so the mistake is understandable.
  8. Tom, Any way to get a few more dimensions on those pdfs? When I open up the end panel drawing it's almost entirely dimensionless.
  9. That's good. I'm not sure it can be denied that it's an issue with some of them (lots of them?). Perhaps your skin just doesn't act as a good capacitive coupler between the two antennas, Jeff, or it knows better than to mess with you?
  10. Bwaaaaaaaaahahahahah - I just watched a live demo of the "don't hold your iphone 4 this way or you'll lose signal". I can't believe that they released the phone like this. I'm sure they'll bill it as a feature. Holy effing fail.
  11. Jeff, Those overdrive results are truly awful, I'd chuck the thing out the window.
  12. Thanks Todd!
  13. Hackintosh - Dell Mini 10V w/ Atom 280, 2GB DDR2, 80GB 7200RPM HD - should be a little screamer, relatively speaking
  14. The hackintosh isn't here yet. My previous work flow for contacts was obviously flawed and my life is not so complex that I maintain a big calendar. Moving forward I need to figure out where a central depository for contacts is going to reside outside of my phone and how to keep the two of them synced up. I don't have a real preference so I'm open to suggestion.
  15. Epic fail - all my backups that used to exist at work are gone too. I'm guessing that some itunes update nuked them along the way and I didn't notice because the phone was no longer directly associated with this computer. FML
  16. Ryan, While not online, I'd recommend Best Buy as odd as that may sound. Their pricing is likely to be every bit as good as any of the above and I really like having a physical place to take things in the event that there is a problem, even if it just means that they have to deal with shipping it out for repairs. I bought my original D70 at BB and it got replaced with a D80 about 18mo later. I'm a firm believer in aftermarket warranties on stuff like DSLRs and have no experience with extended service plans through anyone but BB.
  17. This.
  18. Vicki, I'll see about getting you Opeth - Damnation, it's a good, gentle introduction and shows that they are more musicians that play metal than anything else.
  19. I think it's discussed earlier in the thread, memory says ~200V (B+ + a little headroom).
  20. My wife's phone (Droid Incredible) is a significantly better phone than my 3G. Apple's keystone is their UI, when that starts breaking because of their own bullshit I think seriously about walking. The 3G launched in July of 2008, was only replaced a year ago and was sold until what ,2 weeks ago? I don't think it's reasonable to assume that everyone has moved beyond it and that their software can cause it to turn to shit with no option for going back to software that actually works. Fuck I need a drink. That, thankfully, is a situation that I can handle.
  21. No blame towards Jacob, this is Apple's doing. Not sure what I'll do about the hundreds of contacts that just got flushed but I'm sure with some work most can be tracked back down. I'm hopeful that an old backup of the phone at work might have some of the missing information but I'm not that hopeful. Thankfully my computer recovered after another full restart. I have no clue what could have gotten so pissed that it stopped system services through multiple restarts without error messages but I'm just glad to have it back. One extremely poorly functioning device for one night is enough. The phone is marginally better with this "version" of os4 loaded, but still a steaming turd. This experience might just be enough to make me an android user in the very near future.
  22. Just looked in the local folder where backups "should" be, there's nothing there except the original install that I just did 10 minutes ago. So Fucking Pissed
  23. You have got to be fucking kidding me. So the phone is back up and activated but there is no option to restore data from any of my previous backups (I made sure to back up before installing 4) so my phone is now a blank slate. Not such a big deal other than losing ALL MY FUCKING CONTACTS.
  24. I'd say it's more .
