I use a 10+ year old receiver, I suspect it's more dated that the one Outlaw is offering.

Safety margin for step-down transformer?
Stretch, if you get the one that Gene just mentioned you could probably safely run the exstata off of it and save yourself the hassle of changing jumpers.

Post the last thing you bought!
Poor 32bit OS that can't address the full 4GB of RAM.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
Anyone else getting random emails from AT&T this morning? So far they've suggested that I visit two of their newly remodeled stores... in Michigan. WTF? I'd just be happy if they could get my phone to consistently accept, you know, phone calls.

Outlaw has a pretty crazy promotion going on right now... Predictably their website is super flaky right now but I must admit to being very tempted. Alas, the stack would not fit in my rack.

RF Modulator for iPod.
Peter hit the nail on the head. You're likely to simply drive yourself insane trying to use one, regardless of how good the man'f claims it'll work. Save yourself a world of aggravation, but a new head unit.

Home Depot / Lowe's carries rubber bumper feet that are pretty indistinguishable from the stock Hammond feet.

Transformer coupled electrostatic amps
I love how you throw iron around, Frank. That design is simple enough (baring whatever PS is required) that a simpleton like me thinks, "Yeah, I should be able to do that."

Post what you're watching
Enjoy. It can be a bit uneven at times but I thought it finished strong.

Squeezebox Touch
Me too, stupid one day offers.

Major Surgery Revives 35 Year Old Amp
Dang Gene, didn't take them long to get your quote up as a reference, eh?

Squeezebox Touch
I'm a bit bummed that I missed the deal this weekend. I probably would have grabbed a Touch at $220.

I suppose if any one is going to I should probably have a go at the "slot" approach. I got the vise on the mill tuned last night so it's now at least theoretically possible for me to be accurate with it.

Ayre K-XR Pre and M-XR Monoblocks -- Who's heard them?
I'd say call if you need back up Al, but I'd imagine once you invoke "lawyer Al" all will be taken care of promptly and with much bowing and supplication.

What did you do today?
Vicki, glad to hear that the news, while not great, is more in line with what you were hoping to hear. A positive attitude can only help and I know that isn't easy when you're hurting. Me: dialed the vise on my mill in to within +/- .001" only to figure out that I almost certainly need a larger one. Crap, that is not going to be cheap. I need at least 4" of throat and the current model has ~3.5" which may do for now but not in the long run.

Nice, Lily often fell asleep to this:

Well done! And pfffft, with how you've been lately I think getting over this hurdle might actually mean you have an audio budget again.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
I take it back. My phone had almost no connectivity in Boston tonight. Often it showed edge service but refused to send or receive calls or send text messages - not to mention connect to the web.

Car Stereo suggestions must be iPhone centric
try crutchfield nums. I spent a paltry 250 on my head unit (JVC) and it does everything you're after.
-
Ipod Touch / Iphone
So far I'd say it's greatly improved compared to before the update but I'm holding off on saying for sure for a few days.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
Good news, so far the poor old 3G is doing much better on 4.0.1 and the install took less than 10 minutes.

Post the last thing you bought!
I'll post pics when it arrives.
