  1. Good luck using that as a phone. Or fitting it in a pocket.
  2. It's not that bad, Steve, thankfully there isn't anything that I have to do outside. One good thing the heat has done, just about kill my lawn despite having an irrigation system. The back yard, which is almost totally unprotected from shade is just scorched.
  3. Worked through meetings all morning, mindless drivel in the afternoon. Just got home, it's 92 on the first floor of the house, line voltage is running ~114VAC and it's just too hot to do anything. The internets says it feels like 102 out, I believe it.
  4. I'm with you, Mike, I fail to see how the bars displaying differently will help with the capacitive coupling that is occurring between the two antennas, which would appear to be the real issue. Furthermore, emelius is right in saying that any sort of non-conductive insulating later between your hand and the phone should help.
  5. I liked using my IR remote a lot better when I shot fireworks a few years back.
  6. Yeah, it's such a hassle that you only took care of 98% of the parts for me. Sheesh. [/sarcasm] I need some pot from Digikey anyway so I'll drop a small order today and put the choke on order too. Our friends from across the pond are taking their sweet time with my caps so evidently I'm not in a rush. [edit]And I actually had the sink for the Vreg part, leftover from Millett days gone by. It's the crappy too many holes version but should still be sufficient given that I plan to do more than the typical amount of ventilation on this chassis. And looking at the HS216 part I'd swear I have a few of those kicking around too somewhere so I should probably have a good look before needlessly ordering more and adding to the already stupid # of spare parts on hand.
  7. It occurred to me looking at my board this morning as I left for work that I may not have anything suitable for the small heatsinks that are required. I looked back through this thread and found one veiled reference to using tinfoil, something I'm not too excited about the prospect of, but I'm wondering what the actual part is that is required at these positions?
  8. A very happy 50th Birthday, Mike!
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. The web here appears to be running nearly up to spec today, even over wireless.
  11. I do this too, it's a frustrating form of "organization". I can't tell you how happy I was to find a lone LM317 the other night when working on the Torpedo, it was the one Mouser part that I'd forgotten to order and it would have been less than fun to waste an order on one of those.
  12. I got all the resistors installed in a short burst of free time this afternoon. Hopefully I'll get a bit more done later but I'm still waiting on the output coupling caps which should have been here by now but are not.
  13. A 10' section of counter top to finish the cabinets that I built for my wife in the laundry room.
  14. Correction, he's just a mod and his title has been updated appropriately.
  15. So based on Apple's explanation the signal strength is really just bad, and not a flaw in the phone?
  16. Check for a backwards cap or rectifier diode next.
  17. Check the output at the IEC, you're sure you've got a fuse in there (if it's required) right?
  18. I'll find out if it was modded by NoNoNoNoNoNo and try to get more details for Filburt so that he doesn't have to talk to NoNoNoNoNoNo about it. If the price is reasonable and it hasn't been butchered it may be his best chance of getting one.
  19. NoNoNoNoNoNo asked to have the add pulled, so I pulled it.
  20. Happy Birthday, Greg!
  21. I forgot that NoNoNoNoNoNo is on the Head-Fi flipper watch list, cue .
  22. I really don't get the "it's been modded but I'm not in a position to look to tell you what has been done" line. What, all of a sudden NoNoNoNoNoNo doesn't own a friggen screwdriver? Let's see if he reports my post.
  23. Only time will tell on this one, no idea really.
  24. I don't think it has the amoled one that had problems in the Nexus 1 so daylight shouldn't be an issue Mr. I carry a 45 instead of a 9mm size queen.
  25. The only screen issue that I see is that the iPhone's little 3.5"er is looking mighty small.
