  1. Vicki, glad to hear that the news, while not great, is more in line with what you were hoping to hear. A positive attitude can only help and I know that isn't easy when you're hurting. Me: dialed the vise on my mill in to within +/- .001" only to figure out that I almost certainly need a larger one. Crap, that is not going to be cheap. I need at least 4" of throat and the current model has ~3.5" which may do for now but not in the long run.
  2. Nice, Lily often fell asleep to this:
  3. Well done! And pfffft, with how you've been lately I think getting over this hurdle might actually mean you have an audio budget again.
  4. I take it back. My phone had almost no connectivity in Boston tonight. Often it showed edge service but refused to send or receive calls or send text messages - not to mention connect to the web.
  5. try crutchfield nums. I spent a paltry 250 on my head unit (JVC) and it does everything you're after.
  6. So far I'd say it's greatly improved compared to before the update but I'm holding off on saying for sure for a few days.
  7. Good news, so far the poor old 3G is doing much better on 4.0.1 and the install took less than 10 minutes.
  8. I'll post pics when it arrives.
  9. Forget resisting John, DEW EEET!
  10. You know, I haven't watched Motorweek in years but this comment is so apt I started laughing out loud.
  11. Somehow I managed to buy two Assemblage DACs on the same day.
  12. You'll excuse me if I don't trust that highly scientific test, right?
  13. This, coupled with a dose of number's comment. I wanna be like Gene when I grow up.
  14. Peter, Without a doubt they attempted to spin the situation to their best advantage. But in the end their offer was a pretty nice and generous one and the quoted data from AT&T is pretty compelling evidence that while the iPhone 4 is worse from a reception perspective it's not by a landslide. I am curious to know how many calls per 100 each is dropping, but I'm guessing we'll never know.
  15. They are giving everyone a case for their phone, which helps alleviate the exposed antenna issue. They also went a long way towards showing that most, if not all phones suffer from something similar and that they have the resources to test their own phones in-house better than consumer reports. They also admitted that the reason the 4 may suffer from more obvious antenna issues is that it's obvious where to hold the phone if you want to attenuate the signal. All in all I'd say it was about the best you could expect out of a large corporate entity. The case solution will probably cost them ~$100M in combined costs and loss of revenue.
  16. I heard that the update is best delivered with a glass of something peaty.
  17. Are you really tired? Or are you just displaying the wrong number of strength bars?
  18. Since I've been a vocal detractor lately I'd like to take this opportunity and thank Apple for doing the right thing with the '4'. Now, how about offering me a way to rollback the software on my 3G?
  19. Good to have you back, Stretch!
  20. The hose is hot because the heat exchanger is taking heat out of the air in order to make it cooler. You can't get one without the other.
  21. Sun Kil Moon - April
  22. Is there anything for wildlife around your house not trying to kill you?
  23. I heard about that on a tech podcast over a month ago. Haven't tried it since I've miraculously gotten through to Comcast the last few times I've called in under 5 minutes. But I'm sure I'll find a use one of these days. In iphone related news I am pretty curious to hear what Apple has to say tomorrow morning and I wonder who will be doing the speaking.
  24. Nate faints...
  25. Given Apple's recent track record I would say this is a wise choice.
