  1. 1. In my opinion the power supply is definitely part of the signal path in the following sense - any noise generated by the power supply is likely to find it's way into the signal path. 2. Boutique capacitors, unless they provide better ripple rejection or other characteristic, are in my opinion wasted on a power supply. So my is the same as above, use proven high quality capacitors designed for the intended application.
  2. Actually, I found the iPad to be the perfect midnight companion while dealing with he-who-doesn't-sleep. With the smart cover I'd simply have the iPad sitting on a pillow next to me on the low incline and I could manipulate it with one hand while feeding jr or just letting him rest on me. He and I probably watched 4 or 5 Top Gear series among other things over last summer when thnigs were really bad (from a sleep perspective). It would have been impossible to do the same with a laptop and the TV produces way too much light/distraction to have on. [edit]your link doesn't work for me but that could be my fault.
  3. It's the little things (well, sometimes anyway)... Today's random smile - I've been trying to sell an old Adcom 2ch preamp/tuner that I have for the last year. I listed in on Craigslist for next to nothing, offered it on various audio websites for stupid cheap and got absolutely nothing. So this weekend I decided that I'd be fine if someone just paid shipping to get the thing out of my house and threw it up on Ebay. I've got shipping comfortably covered in the auction and started it at $.99 with no reserve. Some fool has already bid it up over $30. WOOT! On a more serious note most of my days start with the same thing which is waking Lily up to get her ready for the day. That generally consists of crawling into bed with her and snuggling for a while. Some mornings she's cranky but most of the time she's in good spirits if not downright funny. My favorite quote from her recently as we made our way down to the dining room to get her some breakfast, "Dad, if I had 5 bellies I could eat 5 breakfasts."
  4. Just think, at head-fi this thread would be 42 pages long with no solution. Congrat Doug!
  5. This.
  6. 2 thumbs up for me.
  7. Fine with me as long as innerfidelity gets a photo credit. And yes, I took the photos used for the article.
  8. Bummer Larry, but chicks dig scars, right?

    That was the third batch.
  10. Bwaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha @ The Jets. 1. Instant locker room termoil for Sanchez. 2. Instant media frenzy annoying most other players. 3. Now they have two QBs that can't throw, WIN! Anyone care to set the over/under on the number of Teebow signs at the Jets' home opener??? Dinny, will you carry one?
  11. I'm certainly of the same opinion you are Deepak. Voltage and Current gain are handled by glass in the L-2. There are active solid state parts but not in the way that would have me thinking "hybrid" in the sense that it's usually used around here. And Chris, yeah, I figure the guys making the comments are never going to hear what they want to hear from me but I tried to reply anyway.
  12. So there are reports out now that when tested by Consumer Reports the iPad 3 can reach temps of up to 116 F when used for extended periods. Anyone seeing anything like that? While not burning hot that's pretty toasty.
  13. Yes, really, notice I don't give a shit? You 'seem' annoying, buhbye. P.s. That declarative enough for you?

This thread reminds me that I have a pound of bacon from a local pig at home that needs cooking. Damnit, I'm hungy.
  15. You should strongly consider revising your posting habits.
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Heh, I just went and did the same thing to the same image... great minds and all that. Happy Birthday, Al. I know work has been a kick in the pants lately, but hang in there. I'll raise a glass or three to you tonight.
  18. Thanks guys, I'm seriously flattered by all of the compliments. And certainly big congrats to Doug. I really appreciate the way that he's constructed ECP as a company and wish him every success. [edit]And yes Tyll, that's exactly what I was thinking when I read that!
  19. Nice rig, Ric!
  20. You are of course correct , it should be fixed now.
  21. He continued the poor start so he can take a couple of weeks to ponder his return.
