  1. And I'm off the schnide.
  2. It has been effing cold the past couple of mornings (low 30's) and in some of the large field near my house this has caused a cool low-fog phenomenon. Some of the fog/mist is frozen on the grass.. I caught a quick cell phone picture of it yesterday morning. This is about a mile from my house and it's not uncommon to see 100 or so cows in the far pasture. (taken w/ Galaxy S III in sunrise mode)
  3. Happy Birthday, Jim!
  4. This. 0-3 here we come.
  5. Why anything other than the 18-200? I've been using that as my everyday lens for 3 or 4 years now.
  6. Correct and I may be wrong but you may have a hard time restoring personal content onto a device that you try to rollback. Technically I think you might have to jailbreak to rollback but it's been so long since I looked into it that others will need to weigh in here. It's one of the things that I do not like about Apple.
  7. Shelly, 1. I've had a simliar pair of Ascends (sold them here, can't remember exactly what they were now but I I think they were an older version of the 170s) and liked them quite a bit. They're big for desktop use as you've noted. I replaced them with 12L actives oddly enough. 2. I've also had the NHTs, although not the the current version. I liked them, but they're definitely a wee bit bass shy. The ugly part is 100% in the eye of the beholder. I liked them but replaced them #3 for no good reason. 3. I currently use a pair of JBL Control 1X's and like them a lot. From an aesthetics point of view they're very utilitarian but not ugly IMO and I think they sound pretty good. 4. The speaker that has intrigued me for a while and what I wish I could try in the office is the Focal SIB. I think they can be had for ~$400 a pair new and I think they're quite attractive.
  8. It's not easy to rollback an iOS device in my experience. I tried to do it when iOS 4 ruined my iPhone 3G but it was so frustrating that I ditched the iPhone altogether.
  9. Hi, we recently started not giving a shit about your broken headphones.
  10. Excellent sounding day, Dinny.
  11. Feel better Brent and Mrs. dreadhead.
  12. Happy Birthday tall man. Next year maybe I'll get to buy you a beer sometime around your birthday.
  13. Looking good for a 0-2 start...
  14. My experience with Doug's amps is kind of Grado-biased but I'd listen to what this guy has to say.
  15. Happy Birthday Deepak!
  16. Nice, Dan.
  17. Done, way to go Karen.
  18. Nice Raffy.
  19. Based on what I've heard, 16x9 near enough as not to matter. Previous aspect ratio was 960x640 (3:2) New = 1136x640 (71x40 or very nearly 16:9)
  20. Without doing much research I'd say either the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S III. I have no clue what the "next big thing" is going to be on Android and wouldn't worry. The both of the above have ludicrous specs/performance.
  21. I agree that by-in-large the current crop of non-iPhone small phones suck. The exception is perhaps the Droid Incredible II which is not significantly larger than an iPhone and easily handled by those with smaller hands (including my wife). I also tend to agree that there's little to no need for phones to have gotten as big as they have. My Galaxy S III is pretty huge, but tolerable and will probably only feel more at home in my hands over time. But I could have lived with the same type of design (little to no side bezel) with a smaller screen (say 4.5") and that might have been just about perfect. I disagree that the current iPhones (4S and 5) have a sufficiently large screen. Browsing the web in landscape on these phones is awful. Again, that's just my opinion. I also think they could have easily lived with a slightly lower dpi and simply stretched the dimensions and ended up with a great product. But I understand the flip side of that coin and why they didn't. I also still don't care for the way that Apple handles notifications, apps and the lack of customization. I think there are easy ways this could be improved upon and the longer they ignore it the more stupidly stubborn they look. And yes, I freely admit that they're making money hand over fist while I think they look stupid.

  23. Mike, I think you can lock the price for 30 days through Gazelle to give yourself a buffer to get the new phone. I can't see a good reason to replace the 4S, but see the logic moving on from the 4's. And the hassle incurred by actually selling the phones will easily be offset by the total and complete lack of hassle with Gazelle.
  24. I'm wondering if interest rates are going to go negative. The weird thing is that we're now getting to the point where refi is no longer a good choice as there aren't enough points to drop to offset the inevitable fees. 15yrs were already at 2.5 to 2.75, 30's at 3.5. By my math, to keep the payback to what I would consider reasonable you have to drop at least 1%. Time to call my mortgage broker and see if we can renegotiate the currently in progress refi (locked at 3.5).
