I'd say you have your solution right there unless you think the soundbar is going to be superior to the monitors that you'd use...

I'm surprised the TV doesn't have an analog set of outputs but a quick Google seems to confirm that it's digital only. Maybe that's a good indicator of how long it's been since I bought a TV...

Jeff, If your shoes are ventilated (and they probably are) you'll want to get a pair of booties if you haven't already ordered them. My feet are the only thing that gets really cold when I ride in sub 50F temps. My hands, even with half-finger gloves are fine. My feet are ice cubes after about 45 minutes. Otherwise I don't use any dedicated cold weather gear. Just thermal underwear/multiple layers with a thin fleece beanie under my helmet. It's way too cold here to even think about a ride. It was 1F when I left for work this morning and topped out around 20.

Would an Apple TV work as a D/A box? Then you could just go the Audio Engine route for the monitors. I have a hard time imagining powered monitors with a digital input as cheap.

And guys like Calfee will tell you the exact opposite, that they've got customers with 100k+ on bikes that still ride and feel like new. The truth is that there's probably as much variability in frame lifespan between manufacturers as there is cost (which is to say, lots) so maybe Cervelo takes that engineering approach but I don't think you can't paint the entirety of carbon frames with that brush. It would seem odd that most companies offer lifetime warranties on frames that if raced, would be shagged in a matter of a few years.

Agreed Brent, that is a sweet ride.

For mountain biking maybe, and that's a huge maybe based on impact loads and abuse. For road biking, I call bullshit. Maybe if this was two decades ago, but not today. Back it up with some facts, which I suspect will be very difficult if not impossible. As Chris said, Carbon has fewer fatigue problems compared to metals. And I snicker at what Jeff refers to as "low end".

Woot, it's a day of good booze. I arrived home to find a bottle of this waiting... Thanks Vicki!

^ this, sorry man.

What did you do with the old rims, Jeff? I have a friend that's shopping for a mild upgrade and the Fulcrums migth fit the bill if you were looking to move them. I can't remember if you already posted about keeping them around or not...

We'll see if I care enough to call. Last time I tried to do something like this is severely effed up my acount and almost cost me all the apps that I'd previously bought. I've read stories of similar things happening with this iCloud BS so I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

Damn, Jeff, what do you need a firefly for with that featherweight to ride? And holy shit you ride with a lot of drop for someone who hasn't been doing this for very long.

The next phase will be to built a bench under the rack to make it easier to deal with on/off footwear issues and I'm thinking that I'll integrate a little more storage into the seat with drawers or a tilt up top. I designed the hanger system in Skethup which really helped and I'll need to do the same with the bench to make sure that everything that needs to fit, fits. Gene, damn you and your sandals. It was 6 degrees at the house this morning when I left for work.

No warmup info here, but if you're having knee and back pain it might very well be a fit issue. I know that you've got limited to no access to bike professionals but you might need to find some sort of local resource to help you out.

Jose, This isn't the type of headphone forum where you're going to get the information that you're looking for. Try www.head-fi.org.

Thanks guys. Steve, I haven't exactly figured out what, if any, finish it'll get. The bare pine fits the general aesthetic of the room so I may just leave it but your suggestion definitely has merit and sounds interesting.

I spent the better part of my free time yesterday and today turning the super-annoying, overcrowded mess that was our coat rack and hat/mitten situation in the mud room from this... into this... I'm not much (if any) of a neat freak but the gloves and hat pile that was always falling onto the floor and the jackets piled on jackets making it impossible to get to the one that you wanted without knocking 4 others down was driving me a little crazy. So I did what any self-respecting DIYer would do and built something to fix it. Now everyone has their own hook, along with two spares, and a little bin above their hook to put stuff in. It is not a work of art or cabinetry but it does get the job done while not being fugly. And it was fun to make sawdust again.

Ok, I need Apple help. I've had an Apple ID since the beginning of time and hence, it's not an email address. I do have a verified email associated with the ID. So today a friend sends me a photo stream and I try to access on the ipad. Fucking iCloud won't let me log in. If I use my apple ID it tells me I need an email address ID for iCloud and when I try to use the email associated with my Apple ID it tells me the user ID or password is wrong. So I went to apple.com and logged in and I see that there's an option to change your ID to the email associated with your account but when I try to do that it doesn't work. What the fuck? Seems like there are still tons of issues for folks with non-email apple IDs and the fixes don't work. Any suggestions?

I'm with Dan, iMac for now. Get a decent BT keyboard for the ipad if you don't have one to tide you over.
