53mph was pretty uncomfortable, mostly because I was passing someone at the time and as I came out of their draft and went by I got a little headshake/shimmy in the front end and wondered if I was going down. I'm not sure I'd push it that far again. On the Strava/speed front it was pretty funny to look at the decent on the Kanc highway (not where I hit 53, but a paltry 48) where I did 11.9 miles in 23:36 and currently have the 10th fastest time on that segment out of 400+ people that have ridden it. Much ass was hauled on Saturday, mostly on the decents but we did a passable job on the hills as well. One other funny picture, here's the big and the little of our team. Marc is 6'-1, #260 and Pete is 5'-6", maybe #150.

Did my first century yesterday which was my longest single ride by about 35 miles. Total mileage was 101 (almost on the nose) and time was 5:41:53 of actual moving time. We stopped a lot so our ET was nearly 3hrs longer. We had a three guys in our group that hadn't ride more than 300 miles or so all year so there was a group of about 5 that would get out in front, hit it for about 20 miles or so and then wait for the other 4 to catch up. It was huge fun and I felt really good for the entire ride with no real bonking or times when I wondered if I'd make it. Ride Data (note the max speed) Team Big Guy A bit more about the top speed. The last rest stop is at a place called the Crawford Notch Depot. Its about 30 miles from the finish and is at the start of a huge decent which starts out at over 13%. My friend Marc and I (the two biggest guys) decided to just let it rip and see how fast we could go. I managed about 53mph and Marc's indicated top speed was just shy of 56. We all agreed that after the decent we'd just meet up at the bar at mile 97 for a "we're not quite done" beer as we did last year. So after the decent into madness the group of 5 stronger riders hit it pretty hard and managed 21.5mph for 25 miles or so including a few small hills. It was huge fun to ride in a paceline like that where on the flats you were cruising at 25mph. I'll definitely be doing the ride again next year and may try to do a metric with some of these guys at the end of October.

What are you listening to Part the Third
The album on the whole is great. It's been in heavy rotation since they accidentally shipped it to me in advance of the official launch last week. I can't imagine anyone who was a fan before being disappointed.

No need to do anything for me. Let's be honest, it doesn't matter what position I draft in.

I think the only thing you can take away from that is that your body was probably at the same relative state of hydration before and after. Who's to say you were well hydrated when you started? And there's probably a lot more to it than that. Needing ~44oz of water in 20miles would be pretty shocking indeed unless it was absurdly hot/humid out. I drank about than when I did my metric century in mild (~75) temps.

Holy crap that's a lot of miles, Vicki. Me - was hoping to get out for one last tuneup ride before the century. Sadly the weather is crap today with heavy thunderstorms all afternoon. It's been pouring for the last half hour and the roads are now a giant mess.

I'm guessing he's chucking 24V across the LED which would explain its rapid departure from the living world.

I need a quick suggestion for some replacement tubes since my flat this week has left me with fewer spares than I like to keep around. Amazon seems to have a plethora of options and I'd like to place an order through them so that I know I have the tubes before the century next weekend.
