Heard the news on the home on NPR. while sad that he passed it seems that for a while he set the bar for rock 'n roll excess so he's probably lucky to have survived the 70s to see 70.
Greg,
Ouch/Fuck Me regarding kidney stones. My BIL has had them 3 or 4 times now and I just can't imagine it, having lived through them once myself.
Here's to hoping the other two recover quickly.
Keep on keepin' on, Santa.
Me too. It's been ten years since I had a proper, 5ch setup. The hope is that the (planned) addition to the house will permit the procurement and setup of a HT.
Depending on when this beta was built and how the output is configured I'd first start by saying that you should never hot swap or plug in headphones on a beta²². That's a good way to release the magic smoke and render the amp useless. Unless you're talking about an amp configured with a connector other than the usual 1/4" TRS jack. That jack causes a momentary short on the output when plugging/unplugging headphones that has been known to cause major issues.
That said, there should really be an issue powering two headphones at once off of the beta, just that if the sensitivities/load are significantly different it may be difficult or impossible to find a happy listening volume.
My alienware m17 has been an absolute workhorse for the last 5 years. I think that's a very good lifespan for a gaming laptop and it'll still play just about anything out there. It's not much of a laptop though with 60min run times on battery and weighing in around 10lbs. I haven't priced them in a while but figure north of 2k.
I like the fact that they didn't restrict it's streaming ability to just Amazon Prime content. For me it's basically a super cheap way to get Netflix/Hulu to the TV where I workout. And I'm also with Dan, the apps on my smart TV are pretty awful.
