  1. I love pocket watches but cannot ever imagine actually carrying one.
  2. I ride MTB shoes on all my bikes. Means I can never choose the wrong shoes.
  3. The bruising reminds me that I'm alive. That and it's just so much fun to go bombing around the woods. I used to ride trails around my house quite a bit as a kid before there was even such a thing as a mountain bike. And honestly, I'd be perfectly ok with less technical trails but it just so happens that this is the closest place to my house and it's not that bad. I also practice challenge by choice, i.e. there are 5 or 6 spots that I just walk because there's too much potential for a big crash/damage.
  4. Looks like a beautiful day for a ride. I got out on the MTB yesterday. I fully expected that as a result of the recent rain and leaves falling that the trail would be a bit more challenging but it was actually two relatively benign spots that caught me out. The first crash, about a mile in was pretty minor, just tucked the front end going around a corner and went down on my side. No harm, no foul. The second was a bit...more. http://youtu.be/DFerDHn7Vu0 No major damage done other than to my pride and left leg which got pinched between a rock and the pedal. Pretty wicked charlie horse that is still swolen today and a nice little spot of rash on the side that prevented damage to the rock. Otherwise a great ride.

My son just went cruising down the driveway in his toy car screaming, "POWER!!!" I think my job as a parent may be complete.
  6. You know, I get that too now that you mention it. The tab thing is way more annoying.
  7. My Mountain Hardwear insulated jacket cn do the pocket trick, I didn't believe it until I tried it for the first time.
  8. Marc, I'm not sure.... it was just one of the things mentioned in the first few links I found related to Safari having blank tabs. Basically what happens is that I'll be in Safari and either by clicking a link or simply wanting to open a second tab I'll start looking at another page and then after even as short a time as a few seconds I'll close the second tab and when the browser returns to the first it'll be a black page. If I click the + symbol to add another tab I can see the live page that should be displayed but as soon as I choose it the content goes black again. Refreshing the page doesn't even help. It reloads everything but refuses to display the page. It only happened a few times during the first few days of use but has been pretty annoying lately. I just did a full power cycle so hopefully that fixes it and it was just a random bug.
  9. A quick Google says it's probably just a lack of RAM/system resource issue. So, I guess I'll just try not to have many apps running concurrent with safari.
  10. I'm having an issue in ios8 (on the iPad) where if I have multiple windows open in safari the first window goes blank and won't display the page. If I view all the tabs it still has the page three but when I select that tab it's just a plain white screen. Anyone else having this issue?
  11. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. In all seriousness, forget whether or not that's a good gain # for a beta²² but rather is that the amp that you really want to buy/build. At this point I've simply seen way too many of them fail that I'd want to know if they were modified in accordance with amb's recommendations before even considering the amplifier as a platform.
  12. Which spork? Amazon has one I've almost bought...
  13. With those conditions try $20k.
  14. I am continuously amazed by your desire to profit. What is it that you have against losing money?
  15. Yeah, just look up 6 posts or so and you'll see Dan commenting on this and linking to an article. Hard to tell what the "truth" is at this point which is annoying.
  16. FYI - Dan pointed out in another thread (maybe this one?) MSE may no longer be a good option. I can't find the relevant link right now but google produced mixed results about whether or not MS is still updating MSE. For years it was the best, but I've been using other stuff now given the uncertainty.
  17. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/607297237 I wish I could figure out how to embed the small frame version of the activity but since my programming skills tap out at BASIC I've had zero luck.
  18. I can only concur with the fact that it got cold in a hurry. I decided to get back into the whole cycling to work thing this week and it was a balmy 32 when I left the house this morning at 6am. Stupdily did not wear my booties and my feet were frozen after the ~20 mile trip in. This afternoon should be seriously nice with temps now in the mid 60s but I could do without the 12mph wind in my face that is predicted for the ride home. Oh well, you don't get a choice, right? And Jeff, I can't really imagine a bike lighter than my Calfee. It already feels so much lighter than the Roubaix and I really need to remember to have the shop throw it on the scale the next time I bring it in.
  19. I am glad to say that not only did I get to go to Doug's, I got to go with this crew.
  20. Nicely done! I got back out, still used the chesty to less than impressive levels of footage but explored some new-to-me sections of the area where I've been riding the MTB the last few years. There's just so much good stuff.
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. Congrat!!
  24. Got out on the MTB again today and started playing with the chesty that I picked up this week. Didn't get the angle right the first time but the few stills that I accidentally took actually came out ok somehow.... It was a great day, temps in the mid 70s, not so many leaves on the ground as to completely obscure the trail. I'm going to head back out tomorrow afternoon which is supposed to provide the same weather all over again. I've already reconfigured the mount so with a little luck I'll have usable footage.
  25. I can't imagine this happening if the phone is in your front pocket, sitting on it on the other hand would absolutely have the potential to generate enough force without pain.
