  1. Shelly, Sadly, you're likely to find that just getting someone out to look at it will require a substantial investment. When our 4 year old washer bit the dust last year we were quoted $800 to fix it and the guy knew exactly what it was over the phone. Granted, it was much more of a catastrophic failure than yours but modern stuff isn't designed to be fixed, sadly. Unfortunately the replacement has not been great and has a nasty habit of leaving lint on my wife's black pants and shirts. I haven't found a solution to that one yet but in the interest of marital harmony I don't see this current unit lasting all that long either...

Thankfully the storm appears to be tracking a bit south of us (bad for Haj, sorry man) but we're still on track to get 12"+ by tomorrow night. School is cancelled for Maura and the kids. Me, not so much.
  3. The 13" Retina MBP is up and running. It seems pretty snappy and the display is certainly outstanding. I had read articles that made me think that I was going to end up running it at a lower resolution but I can't really see a point yet. Mostly, it also has me thinking about switching over to an iPhone so that I can quit worrying about how to back up multiple different devices across platforms, etc. It's finally gotten to the point where I don't see much difference between the platforms and given how little I use my phone for, it's tempting. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger or not...
  4. Everywhere has good snow right now, I just happened to be visiting a friend in the area so the opportunity was not to be missed. They'd gotten 12" of fresh snow just two days before I went and we were able to cut some fresh tracks in a few spots. Sadly, because of all the snow I had to cut the trip short a day and came back late last night. Looks like a wise choice as we are supposed to get 12-18 from now thru Monday night.

    Happy birthday, Jeff!
  6. I'm on apres beverage 6 or so. My lift ticket came with a bacon bloody mary, which was also quite good. The view from the top.
  7. Happy to report that sunburns were avoided. The skiing was unbelievable.
  8. I have spf70 on my face and it's in the 40s with light wind.
  9. Should be an Epic day, it's supposed to be over 70 in Denver so spring conditions are expected in the mountains.
  10. Currently in Frisco, CO about to go ski a-basin.

Very nice work, Birgir. Reminds me that I need to finally wire the Normal Bias output on my KGSS.

Late start here, Haj. The walk from my office to the car (1/4mi) sucked at 4pm. 8 degrees, 20mph wind driven snow straight in my face. No thanks. Driving consisted of trying not to plow into the newly invisible 18 wheeler causing whiteout blindness. Clearing the driveway tomorrow morning (it's still snowing) is not going to be fun. Wind chills are supposed to be somewhere in the negative teens.
  14. This!
  15. Response 1 - That'll buff out. Response 2 - I think you should see what Gazelle will give you for it.

  17. Thanks for those videos, Stretch. Implemented some of the techniques this morning and came away much more pain free than usual. I do want to try at least some alternate shaving cream and pre-shave to see if it'll allow me to shave more frequently. Right now unless I want major pain and suffering I basically need to let my beard grow for 3 to 4 days before shaving. Weird, I know. Not sure I want to switch to a safety razor just yet so baby steps to start. Where are you guys buying stuff like this?

3" on the ground this morning when I left and it was snowing pretty hard. It's light stuff again, courtesy of temps in the single digits, but is supposed to go on all day with winds progressively getting worse and topping out near 40mph.
  19. The NAD pp2e is also pretty cheap.
  20. No pic, eaten too quickly. Made queso fundido w/ chorizo today for the superbowl party. It was quite good, despite only being able to find Spanish chorizo. My go-to butcher didn't make any this week. The leftover chopped peppers, onion, tomato and cilantro should make for an epic omelet tomorrow morning.

Nah, that's just the backyard. Last night only delivered a couple of inches or so but its crazy windy today.
  23. All went well, thankfully. I put the battery on the trickle charger last night just to be safe and the light was green this morning.

It's snowing here again. About 1" on the ground so far with 3-6" predicted overnight tonight. Shouldn't be too bad. There's another storm coming Monday along with some serious cold (-5F predicted + high winds) that doesn't sound like much fun.
