The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.

They've had a few D750s go through as well... pretty tempting. -
Yeah, we got a foot or more down here too but it looks like it's starting to clear so I'm hopeful the worst is over for this round. Sadly, no thunder snow.

Tomorrow morning's forecast. It started snowing about an hour ago but isn't supposed to really kick in until after midnight.

I always lusted after the single-sided swing arm of the ST.

I'm going to try some time-lapse photography this go 'round for posterity. It may be hard to tell if all that happens is 18" of snow gets piled on 5' of existing snow. The other joy-joy portion of this storm is going to be the wind - 50-70mph gusts with hurricane force winds and 20'+ waves just offshore. Hang on to your butts! The coast of MA may be well and truly effed.
-
At least I'm only in the 12-18" band.

Boston is a train wreck, no pun intended. The city received a waiver that allows them to dump the snow directly into the harbor which will help somewhat. The school system is reeling from all this weather and there's talk (in Boston) of cancelling April vacation in order to get in a full year without having to go to school in July, which they can't do anyway because of teacher/union contract issues. I wouldn't be surprised if the state gets pressured into waiving the mandatory 180 school year. They've already had 8 snow days assuming they get back to school tomorrow.

In other news there is another storm headed our way Thursday.

^^ Jebus... Me: on Saturday my friend's and I visited a distillery in Denver. It was good. I'd encourage all of you to track down a bottle of Stranahan's. It should be available in most major markets although they had to pull distribution back somewhat recently but have plans in the works to support nationwide in the next few years.

Shelly, Sadly, you're likely to find that just getting someone out to look at it will require a substantial investment. When our 4 year old washer bit the dust last year we were quoted $800 to fix it and the guy knew exactly what it was over the phone. Granted, it was much more of a catastrophic failure than yours but modern stuff isn't designed to be fixed, sadly. Unfortunately the replacement has not been great and has a nasty habit of leaving lint on my wife's black pants and shirts. I haven't found a solution to that one yet but in the interest of marital harmony I don't see this current unit lasting all that long either...

Thankfully the storm appears to be tracking a bit south of us (bad for Haj, sorry man) but we're still on track to get 12"+ by tomorrow night. School is cancelled for Maura and the kids. Me, not so much.

The 13" Retina MBP is up and running. It seems pretty snappy and the display is certainly outstanding. I had read articles that made me think that I was going to end up running it at a lower resolution but I can't really see a point yet. Mostly, it also has me thinking about switching over to an iPhone so that I can quit worrying about how to back up multiple different devices across platforms, etc. It's finally gotten to the point where I don't see much difference between the platforms and given how little I use my phone for, it's tempting. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger or not...

Everywhere has good snow right now, I just happened to be visiting a friend in the area so the opportunity was not to be missed. They'd gotten 12" of fresh snow just two days before I went and we were able to cut some fresh tracks in a few spots. Sadly, because of all the snow I had to cut the trip short a day and came back late last night. Looks like a wise choice as we are supposed to get 12-18 from now thru Monday night.

I'm on apres beverage 6 or so. My lift ticket came with a bacon bloody mary, which was also quite good. The view from the top.

Happy to report that sunburns were avoided. The skiing was unbelievable.

I have spf70 on my face and it's in the 40s with light wind.
-
Should be an Epic day, it's supposed to be over 70 in Denver so spring conditions are expected in the mountains.

Currently in Frisco, CO about to go ski a-basin.

I'm a little nervous as I'm due to fly back into Boston on Sunday afternoon...

Very nice work, Birgir. Reminds me that I need to finally wire the Normal Bias output on my KGSS.

Late start here, Haj. The walk from my office to the car (1/4mi) sucked at 4pm. 8 degrees, 20mph wind driven snow straight in my face. No thanks. Driving consisted of trying not to plow into the newly invisible 18 wheeler causing whiteout blindness. Clearing the driveway tomorrow morning (it's still snowing) is not going to be fun. Wind chills are supposed to be somewhere in the negative teens.

Response 1 - That'll buff out. Response 2 - I think you should see what Gazelle will give you for it.
