Bringing this thread back from the dead. Last week I ordered a Bull Belt from Saddleback. It arrived today and is outstanding. It creaks like a saddle, I kid you not.
Nicely done!
I rode to work today. It was exceptional out this morning. Temps in the mid 50s, no wind, etc. This afternoon I'm looking at a 15mph headwind (a theme this year so far) and temps in the mid 80s. Mother nature is killing me.
Jib,
The HA--2 is indeed a gem. I had one, upgraded it a bit and built two more insane variants with Pete's guidance and additional help from the DIY community. If you have never taken the cover off the HA-2 you should, taking proper safety precautions, and check on the power supply caps and R1. The power trafo runs hot and the caps are run pretty hard which can lead to premature failure and increased noise.
Nope, you're not alone. I'm about to switch to an iPhone for Pete's sake and I still cannot give a single fuck about the watch. That's not to disparage those who want one, I just don't fit the user profile. I like my analog watches.
I'd say I've been pretty consistent in offering a counterpoint to your ongoing spending spree. By rough estimation your watch collection represents a sizable downpayment on a house or you could practically own the GTI outright by now. And listen, I'm not exactly the pristine voice of reason in this debate so you can (and I'm sure do) ignore much of what I have to say.
I love me some nachos, although not those with a capital N. Those are too pretentious.
I also love tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and burritos. I swear I could eat Mexican, or at least Americanized Mexican, just about every day and be a happy man.
This. All of it. If I had $6k burning a hole in my pocket and already had (only) one nice watch I'm pretty sure I could find something far more productive to spend it on.
