walked around with the nokton for the day and switched back to the zeiss 35mm which is TINY by comparison and insanely lighter. what made things worse was the better iq which wasnt exactly a surprise but for the cost and the weight of the nokton is making me reconsider the purchase. the shallow dof is allegedly better for portraits but i have yet to take a picture with the nokton that i find better than the zeiss which has a softness to it that i cant really explain. the voigtlander is plenty sharp stopped down but i already have the zeiss for 2.8 or higher. wanted to get something a tad faster but im starting to realize that the extra speed isnt really doing anything that the zeiss isnt already doing (better). -
happy birthday sir

just for the sake of clarification, i think salty mentioned a while back that the cleaning tool came included with the initial purchase. i never got one then and then paid for one later but never got that either even after a few emails. i was told over the phone that i would be charged for the cleaning and the new cable if needed but was not for either. wasnt charged for return shipping either which i was also told i had to pay.

i dont know if this is going to help matters or make them worse. just going to provide facts. purchased jh16s last year (thanks mike and fitz for your help - not sure if i ever thanked you before). purchased the wax removal tool a few weeks later. never came. sent 3-4 emails about the 3 dollar thing. never got a reply back. said fuck it. wax got really bad. sent another 2 emails. said they were going to send it out but never did. sent them in on thursday to get cleaned. was quoted $50 and had to pay for return shipping as well. i agreed. a very very good looking ups lady just rang the door bell and handed me a package which was sent out by jh audio. opened it, to find the jh16s in new condition with a pair of cleaning tools and a new cable (i had requested them to check why the sound was cutting in and out of the left earpiece) none of which i was charged for. a very nice email to jaime and the rest of the jh audio crew is in the works. listening to them as i type this and i cant say i have been happier listening to music. lots of new music was acquired during the period of non use which probably ran the better part of the summer and as much as i love the crack and 650 combo, the micro details that the jh16s so effortlessly pry out make it a whole different experience. i guess i threw in a few things besides the facts jh audio is back up to baller status. *jams out to the turtle island string quartet* JUMP FUCK YOUR MOTHER the violin sounds amazing.

a few from today with the nokton 50/1.1 i just got in the mail this afternoon. coffee with a few friends. last two with the zeiss 35/2.8. -
this is something i wish i never come across. the morbid curiosity will get the better of me and i suspect my love for curry (which strangely has nothing to do with my being indian) will be ruined forever.

i was thinking that it was going to be more like what you posted grahame. davids words gave me a bit more courage. however, it was a let down. non bacon like after taste that i dont particularly care for. i think i would have preferred what ellas served. whenever im in tampa perhaps...

still havent had it. too weirded out by the fact that there is bacon inside...chocolate.

meh @ n!. the real fun starts when you get to n!^n!^n!^n! generators. i did computations with those on my 10 year old thinkpad using qbasic. -

i ran into that problem with some longish bit cryptosystems mostly because i was bored one night and wanted to test the limits of computation of magma. i really had to use some weird keys to not get a response from magma. so now im morbidly curious as to what you are doing that wont get done in 60 seconds. strange group order calculations? -

surely you are aware of this but just in case... http://magma.maths.usyd.edu.au/calc/ also, i hate the guy who did the departmental presentation for sage when it came out so i hated sage by proxy. perhaps i should be a bit more rational in my approach to evaluating mathematical packages but what fun would that be -

Am I the only one that still uses mathematica? I feel alone. R is quite nice. Either of you use magma? Has the craziest number precision of any software I have seen. Can deal with numbers that makes C++ cry. Extremely pleasant to use for crypto stuff. -
