Thanks guys. I celebrated the beginning of the summer and the end of the semester by just waking up at 10am. I haven't felt this rested in months.

Meh, I couldn't help but laugh at how stupid some people really are. Luckily for them, a Geography test isn't required to be released from jail.

From the beach a couple of hours ago. I approached a couple who were doing nothing and explained to them what the 100 strangers project was and asked if I could take a picture of one or both of them. "What's your name again?" "Anurag." (While handing them my card) "What kinda name is that? Where are you from?" "India." "You fucker. Your fucking people fucking blew up that fucking bomb in Boston and killed that innocent boy." "Sir those boys were Chechens...from Chechnya." "I know who they were. You fuckers all live next to each other. Get the fuck away from us. Get out of this beach. This is America. We don't tolerate you brown Muslim assholes here." "Ok...have a lovely evening." About 30 minutes later these two police officers track me down further down the beach and asked me what I was doing and if they could go through my bag. I didn't care and didn't want to argue with them for long so told them to go ahead as I had nothing to hide. Turned out one of the police officer's son was in my class last semester and his daughter is in my class now and both apparently nice things to say about me. As he was apologizing for accosting me, the couple came from behind and started yelling at the officers for not arresting me and then got belligerent and started yelling slurs at one of the officers. Then they were both arrested as the guy shoved the officer in the back and the wife started hitting the other officer when he was cuffing the husband. They apologized for the couples behavior and then carted the couple away. By now it was so dark that I couldn't take pictures which pissed me off a lot more than the whole ordeal. Fun evening.

Just took my Spanish and French finals back to back. Fucked up my days of the week but everything else was fine. Done for the semester with nothing in the summer. Until med school starts.

Thanks guys. Raffy, I had the camera stretched out with the strap against the back of my neck and I was leaning against a pillar. Standing free I would have never been able to do that. -

Thanks Ari. It was essentially pitch dark with just a single light bulb right above the bike. The image was a wee bit underexposed but I was able to fix that a little in LR but can't get the ghosts of the camera shake from around the seat out Any suggestions on how to fix that region? -

Took my 50mm out to play tonight. 1600 ISO, f1.4, 0.5 seconds, handheld. -
I started watching the chicago brooklyn game and left it on the pan for too long. Now I have a piece of the burnt portion stuck in my throat and it is pissing me off with a constant reminder of my stupidity.

Playing with the 50/1.4. The bokeh is nervous and hot sometimes but other times it's very pleasing. Don't know how to replicate the pleasing stuff but I haven't used it enough to notice what the variables are. Playing with HDR in Lightroom. -
Made a whole bunch of calls today. Everyone i know in the area seems to be safe and accounted for. Wtf is wrong with people? Honestly. Don't they have anything better to do with their lives. If you so feel the need to blow yourself up do it in a forest or a desert where you aren't hurting others. Fucking dumbasses.

As Jacob said, I don't really feel the need to go into any menu's ever. Aperture = front wheel. Iso = rear wheel. Camera controls shutter speed in Aperture mode. In Manual, the shutter speed function goes to the rear wheel and the iso changes with the dedicated button. -

I have the same focal lengths as well. Zeiss 35/2 and 50/1.4 but like the 35 much better. The bokeh out of the 50/1.4 is considered nicer but I don't like it as much. I am trying to see what all the hoopla is about with the defocus control lenses. FF is certainly the way to go. -

Julie is never allowed on my phone again. I am in love with my d800. The full frame viewfinder coupled with dedicated buttons for iso, wb, bracketing are addicting. Still don't know how to use bracketing but learning. I find myself using the 35mm lens almost exclusively so the 50mm is FS. But the body is beautiful. It's heavy and bulky but I never got perfectly nice shots at ISO 2000 on the nex rig. -

Antonio, it is entirely possible to purchase the body stateside and mail it over to you if it results in a nicer gift. -

Reks, there was a police officer sitting there with a radar gun. He asked me why I was stopping there and asked to see my camera before I took pictures there but then he was very nice once he realized I wasn't causing any trouble. -
