And a weaker graphics card which doesn't help with PS. Also, benchmark of the 2012 mac mini isn't that much better than the 2013 macbook air, double the CPU power and all. Source - http://browser.primatelabs.com/mac-benchmarks -

Supported and the thing running smoothly on a 27" monitor are two different things. Windows 8 runs on some really old hardware does not mean it is desirable. I was using my macbook air to feed the 27" monitor with LR/PS which was running the Intel HD 5000. Every single slider movement took ~1 second hence the move to a Hackintosh. -

Damn that would make the perfect machine for photo editing were it not for the graphics card. -

My hackintosh is running great. Installed Yosemite using Clover yesterday. Everything except iMessages works splendidly. I can send and receive SMS but not iMessages. Far more stable than Mavericks which had frequent crashes. No crashes so far. You should investigate the avenue Shelly. For $1600 you are well on your way towards a kickass rig. The initial headache is there in trying to get everything set up but once it is there, it is rock solid. Depends on whether the headache is worth saving the extra $500-$1000. -

Went to the apple store. They somehow determined the ssd was beyond repair - the encryption with file vault failed due to a hardware issue. Gave me a new macbook air to replace the current one purchased in August. I love Apple again. -

Wonder if Brent is chewing his face off after reading that sentence. He don't like no bad grammer. -

So apparently the thing crashed while trying to encrypt the drive using FileVault. Now parts of the drive are encrypted and others aren't which is preventing the drive from mounting which is preventing it from booting so the only way to fix this is to do a clean install. Blows that I didn't have the files backed up since Monday but whatever. -

I didn't do shit other than a vanilla upgrade install over Mavericks. -

I could. Just don't enjoy having to download/install all the software again. Especially the ones that have limited installs. Normally I do clean installs but got an email a few months ago saying I just had 1 more left of microsoft office for mac. -

The macbook air is the test rig. I just use it on the go for watching lectures/browsing/email. All the major work is done in the Hackintosh so I am ok. Still a pain in the neck though to get this sorted out. I wanted to be a devops engineer the first 3 weeks of undergrad a very long time ago. Hated doing the other three kids' work for the group assignments though. EDIT - If the MBA fucks up, I can walk into the apple store with it and ask them to fix it Can't exactly do that with the Hackintosh. -

Wanted to try Yosemite. Should have waited a month. Didn't have any issues with 0 day installs of the past 3 iterations. Happy I haven't touched the Hackintosh. -

Hooray for Yosemite...been bounced around from 'genius' to 'genius' for the last 45 minutes and no one knows what the hell is going on. -

Yes, and maybe. Yes, it is large enough since Julie isn't working full time anymore to be able to take more classes. I am entirely on loans, so can't help her financially as much as I would like to. Maybe, because I don't have a realistic idea as to how much a lawyer would end up costing through the entirety of the nonsense. It isn't just the deposit. He wants Julie to pay for the damage caused by an ac leak that Julie informed him of the moment it happened. Upon his brother's advice she let the frozen section melt which caused even more water damage. The landlord didn't send someone over until a week after she told him about it all the while he kept telling her someone was going 3 days in a row when no one went. I know this because Julie was at work and I was skipping tutoring kids to go house sit at her place. The guy put the house on the market and sold it. Now he doesn't want to pay for all the repairs caused by the ac. I don't see how he is entitled to anything more than the security deposit if even that. On a matter of principle I don't want to let it go because he had no intention of returning the deposit check (he slipped up when he got angry). That being said, it I guess depends on how much hiring a lawyer would end up being and if we have a case to win otherwise we end up losing the $1400 and have to pay two lawyers.

Dealing with a nightmarish landlord situation with Julie. She just moved out of a townhouse and the landlord isn't giving her her security deposit back. Never met someone so obviously greedy before.

I have the same issue on my iPhone 5. Never used the iPad enough to notice a problem on there.

Link Chris? The Foscam ones are reviewed well but have complaints since the sensor change that Foscam has acknowledged.

Julie and the girls just moved into an apartment and I'd feel a lot safer if the apartment had some sort of security system. The ADT type subscription services seem less expensive per month but start to add up over a bit of time. Has anyone set up a system themselves or has suggestions for a diy system? 2 bedroom with windows, a living room door and a main door need to be covered essentially. I am thinking buying a cheap netbook and throwing a couple of tb drives in an enclosure and connecting them to some cameras. However, if there is a break in, I don't see why someone would leave the netbook behind. Cloud based services all require subscriptions at which point we might as well get something like ADT. Anything with a key pad entry and an loud alarm would be nice as well. She doesn't have anything of value other than perhaps her macbook air but it is more for their safety and my peace of mind. The new neighborhood is good but it's a bit removed from the gated town home community she moved out of recently.

Very nice Peter. Is the last one shot with the 14-24? Finally got around to scanning the rest of the film from New Orleans. http://anuragkatyal.blogspot.com/2014/10/nawlins-fun-in-french-quarter.html -

1. Google docs does everything I need to do. What kind of documents do you need to create? I have been using nod 32 for the past few years. Works great. -
Build my own website
crappyjones123 replied to nikongod's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
One option is to build the site using Google sites using their templates and then point the domain to the Google address in stealth mode so the viewer doesn't see the redirect. This way you don't have to pay for hosting. When you start getting 10000 unique hits every month you can upgrade to dedicated hosting in case you need more space. Look around for a deal on domain vendors. They all offer varying prices on the same name for some reason. Www.domain.com was the last I used (cheaper than godaddy) and they have coupons frequently floating around. Google seems like a reasonable place to start to get your feet wet. It's free. If you like it you can invest in something better once you have enough content and a viewer base. If you don't like it, you are only out the cost of the domain. Ps. Google gives you access to the css code of their templates also so a good starting point. -
I'm impressed the office actually did a test to see what you had instead of blindly giving you antibiotics and sending you home. Feel better.
