  1. Thanks Peter. The 'light' in the image has been massaged a bit. It was pretty dark out, I remember, because we had no way of getting back to where we were staying. Taking the road back to where we had parked our car would have taken us a good 3-4 hours, possibly longer without any lights. We certainly weren't navigating those cliffs that late. The camera read 1/60s at f/2.8 with ISO 1000. I guess I could have gone to 800 and taken a slower shutter speed but the winds were around 35mph and it was biting cold. Didn't care to stop there longer. We did the hike on a Sunday evening thinking it would take us the same time it took the locals. That was our first mistake. We had been given two phone numbers to local villagers who worked as a taxi service. Once we got to the visitor center at the cliffs, we tried calling both. One didn't answer. One did and said he didn't work on Sundays. Wasn't my favorite place to be in high winds from the ocean in sub zero temperatures. There was one caravan parked in the visitor lot with a light on. We chose to walk back instead on the roads. Eventually, Julie stopped being stubborn and let me call our hostess who yelled at me for not calling her earlier. She dragged her husband out of bed and came to grab us around 11pm. The original is attached below.
  2. On the Doolin Cliff Walk looking back. D800 surprised me big time with this file at ISO 1000.
  3. The first is a small waterfall in Gleninchaquin Park and the second is a stitched pano from the top of the hill at Eask Tower in Ireland.
  4. Some snaps with the iPhone. Ireland is beautiful.
  5. I am considering an M6 as it does not require me to use a light meter. While the price of admission is higher in leicas they do hold their value much better so I guess I should be able to get what I pay for the camera. Certainly not the case for Voigtlander. Why the hell is the actual patch in the middle of the rangefinder so damn small? Any reason why they can't make it a bit larger? Would help a boatload in focusing.
  6. Stephen gandy of camera quest quoted me $110. Camera cost me $350...it's a Voigtlander r3a. Above all else it smells of cigarette smoke which is my making my throat close up so it's going back anyways. But the guy said it was functionally perfect and from a no smoking home...and he was the original owner. Something doesn't add up.
  7. Is the rangefinder out of whack? The eBay seller asked me to make a video of what I was talking about.
  8. Neither are any of the nba playoff games. They are all on tnt or abc. Offered the suggestion in case they were being shown on any of the other channels. Sorry I don't follow baseball. As far as the software goes, just uninstall it.
  9. Sure, but do they offer the same games you want to watch in other markets in any of the channels listed? 7 day free trial plus free proxy server. Might be worth a try.
  10. I have a subscription to this for the nba playoffs...sports were the only thing I cared about with cable and I hated watching tv on a tv. This lets me not pay the absurd monthly cost and watch on my laptop wherever I want. https://www.sling.com
  11. Shelly, have you tried any free proxy servers? http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-anonymous-surfing-service.htm
  12. Clippers can suck a fat one. I guess the only team left for me to cheer for is the warriors. Really wants to see spurs vs warriors
  13. This was the second time I tried bone in. The first time was on the grill so nothing got steamed. The bone in seems like a waste of money to me as one is still paying for it but cannot eat it. Almost always costs more. Any particular reason for that?
  14. All current available funds are funding a 9 day road trip through Ireland starting in a week. I miss my grill but I'll take driving down the Irish west coast over the grill any day.
  15. I miss my grill Simple little charcoal Weber on the balcony but after 2 years of living here, all of a sudden I was asked to remove it by the association because it was against the rules. All the while, people on the first floor (I am on the third) all over the place continue to grill stuff every day.
  16. Blarg. Thanks for the help, though.
  17. The bone explains the lack of sear. But what would cause it to be so chewy? It was well marbled. When I took it out of the oven, it looked boiled, not pan seared when I flipped it. I dried it well before putting it on the pan.
  18. Got what I thought was a pretty good rib eye from Publix. Preheated a seasoned cast iron pan to 500C (highest my oven goes to). Put the steak in, 3 minutes on each side. Came out medium rare. It didn't get a sear though for some reason (maybe it was the bone that prevented proper contact but there was enough meat touching the pan that didn't get seared). It also came out to be the chewiest steak I've ever made. So chewy that I gave up on it after like 20 seconds and spat out the bolus. Any thoughts on what might have made the steak so chewy? Usually I stick to boneless steaks but figured I'd give the bone in a try (it was cheaper too).
  19. Scrotal Recall on Netflix. Pretty funny. I like it.
  20. That's a glorious beard Al. Are you planning on joining wayne in Santa duties on the left coast?
  21. How do you hook the ladies? "Like this."
  22. About to pull the trigger on the nikon 20mm or the sigma 24mm art. Any thoughts/suggestions between the two? Cost is about the same. The sigma is most likely sharper wide open. Either buy one of the above or rent the zeiss 21mm...?
  23. Recently got a Fitbit Flex from Julie and it has been alarming as to how sedentary my lifestyle had become. Was barely doing 1500 steps most of which came from walking to and from the library. Anyhow, if anyone else has a fitness tracker and wants to do challenges feel free to add me on the fitbit website - [email protected]. Also, just found a great website, www.matchup.io which syncs data from various trackers from different companies so people with different trackers can still do challenges together. The website also has challenges that you can do with other people on the internet - I just signed up for this one - https://matchup.io/group/4746/yellowstone-park-to-tenton-rail-trail You can find me on matchup with the username - anuragkatyal Cheers
  24. My advisor has the 18-35. Every bit as amazing as the sigma 35/50 I've had in the past. Amazing IQ.
