  1. I feel like if anyone is going to get the most out of the Wicket chair it's Dr. Wood.
  2. Omega Seamaster AT 150m? List is $5500 but you can definitely get them for at least 10% off. The Heuer reissues are also pretty nice if you want a chrono. Same price point. New Tudor GMT is great value at $3900. Or the Tudor Pelagos at $4400 if you want more of a chunky dive watch. Titanium case & bracelet to keep the weight down, which is nice. Lots of good options. Or just * whispers * get a Speedmaster.
  3. So this is not a diet recommendation, but if you make guac and then brown a bunch of butter and whip them together, it improves almost anything you put it on. Tonight I put it on short ribs. No pix too stuffed.
  4. Vintage Rolex (maybe Heuer too) then. Is a gigantic rabbit hole.
  5. Jeff, get into independents. Laurent Ferrier, F.P. Journe, Moser.
  6. Mom is the real hero here! Buys old watch, thereby financing new watch. Buys another new watch just because. Gives back old watch. ?
  7. Can vouch for the excellence of the Eames + Ottoman. Own a couple. Are the absolute shiznit.
  8. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/06/obituaries/joel-robuchon-a-french-chef-festooned-with-stars-is-dead-at-73.html Oh man. Have never eaten better than at his Atelier in London. Checked my food diary (super wanky, I know) and was there 15 times between 2014 and 2017. Wine bill of a small country's GDP. Godspeed sir!
  9. Decided to sell my 116610LV (Green Sub) because I don’t wear it much. Got $1000 more than I paid for it brand new last year, which was nice! Thank you Rolex for restricting supply of all the steel sports models. Am using the funds for a 1969 yellow gold 1803 Day-Date for my wife’s 50th next year. Yup, birth year watch time, roast me ...
  10. Finance watch and drink wine while wearing it for extra pleasure, playa.
  11. * Narrator's voice * "It was not." (Actually I don't know. Maybe. You decide, it's yours.)
  12. Likes, disapprovingly.
  13. Happy Birthday! Thanks for keeping this place running!
  14. Good problem to have! Prefer the Medium, as it doesn't have a date window. It's only 35mm in diameter but almost 42mm lug to lug -- so shouldn't wear too petite? Do report back ...
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. And their free company shuttle buses keep getting stoned by people who live off the taxes they pay and hate them for it. Who'd be a tech bro?
  17. The front fell off.
  18. Que cumplas muchos mas!
  19. No disagreement from me on the watch. Someday I hope to own an ALS, although probably not that one as it's well North of $100,000! Watchfinder the company was the biggest used/grey market watch dealer in the UK, with a couple of showrooms in London and elsewhere. Their main advantage was you could actually go in to see their watches in the metal and try them on, versus the Internet dealers where you were trying to judge condition etc. from photographs. Flip side was that they were considerably more expensive. Anyway, they were recently bought out by Richemont, one of the largest luxury conglomerates in the world and the owners of A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron Constantin. The deal was seen as an acknowledgement by the primary luxury watch manufacturers of the growing importance of the secondary market (and an intention to get a piece of it, thus gaining some control over the channel). It also opens up some interesting opportunities for cross-promotion, as (likely) seen above.
