Yup, hence my original comment about an Egmont style amp with NFB. Headphone amps only need a gain of around 4 or 5, especially since most sources are balanced these days.

Interesting.... just googled a description of what it does here: http://www.just-hifi.com/New-Jecklin-Float-QA_10441524-34.html The ED1 is for diffuse field equalization, I think this one is doing equal loudness compensation just for some curve that corresponds to 8dB down, along with the dynamics expansion. Ideally the compensation should change with volume.

I would be interested in seeing what equal loudness curve the EQ circuit is based off, and how close it actually gets. This is something I definitely want to try eventually, but in the digital domain because the cap farm is just stupid.

The OPA221 datasheet says supply range up to 36V with absolute max of 40V and LMH6321 says supply range up to 30V with absolute max of 36V. If you're using the same supply for both I probably wouldn't go above 16V rails, just to be safe.

Just the output devices need to be the higher power versions, the rest can be TO92 package.
