  1. The left speaker only contains cues for your left ear and the right speaker only contains cues for your right ear? That's so wrong. Maybe if you record everything with the binaural dummy head, but what about all the current music? Currently a 2 speaker setup is basically multiplexing however many original mics down to the two speakers, whereas if you do crosstalk cancellation it ends up being two non-ideal point sources at fixed locations, one for each ear. Again I go back to closed headphones as a great example of how normal recordings would sound with crosstalk cancellation.
  2. ^ I think that's the point. Oh, and
  3. Guys birthday happy!
  4. Odd, I thought headphones are really good at crosstalk cancellation (especially closed headphones) and that's the whole point of crossfeed, to add crosstalk and give a more natural feeling of soundstage. After all, real life has crosstalk, the delay between one and the other ear of a sound is how you can judge location... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_localization Right now, to me it sounds like he's tripping balls.

  6. That is the second most common spelling of Oistrakh. Kind of like Rachmaninov/Rachmaninoff. Good stuff.

  10. I have the sudden urge to make ventilation ducts as my shirt and air filters as my pants for the lulz... good job model dude.
  11. So I wanted to build an updated IC Gilbert mixer but apparently we don't have scope that measure at high enough frequencies (20-80GHz range) so I'm trying to build the original circuit. I'm wondering about the opamp circuit though, any ideas? Should I just leave it out and use an external purpose-built opamp or layout my own opamp circuit into the IC? Going to be doing the layout in MAGIC.

  13. Yeah the laptop I have now was around 550(refurb tho) but it is a bit annoying hauling its 15" self around. Thanks.
  14. After finally wrapping my mind around the basic architecture and opcodes of the PIC18F4550 I'm plunging straight into the ARM7 LPC2148. Writing directly into program memory and fooling with the program counter and stack pointer and whatnot is fun and all except when shit doesn't work.
  15. How do you get them to play in tune with each other?
