You're moving?! Good luck with your new setup and abode. Following Dusty's train of thought, I believe the standard HC approved option is Kef LS50 with sub? Rear ported so still needs space in the back. Not having any experience with WAF, my personal choice would of course be a Quad ESL 63.

AOIP (Audio over Ethernet) or is USB dead?

The electrons won't be happy to hear about this. I'd be in for a shock if I were you. -
It's been a few weeks so I've received mine, the 18 dollar ones that people on HF seemed to verify were legit. Haven't tried the mic yet but the sound is fine, so thanks a bunch! bit of a low treble peak combined with a somewhat rolled off top end isn't a great combo, but everything else is more or less fine. Maybe different tips will help, and I haven't experimented with moving the nozzles around yet either. Overall sound quality is probably on par with my $8 panasonics.

Happy rare whiskey opening day!

You can buy 'stats for very cheap, actually. I don't remember the exact amounts but for example, I believe I paid about $200 for my SR202 and less than $100 for my ECR500. That's what makes them so dangerous, they regularly beat on dynamics worth thousands so you think they should cost as much.

The T1 are poorly damped even with a close to 0 output impedance amp and their impedance curve vs frequency (and thus resonant frequency hump) is massive, even bigger than the HD800's. I'd be interested to see some measurements.

But when will the HE400S V2 MkII subseries 3.1 w/ earpad mod come out? There's huge debates on whether or not Sennheiser's various driver changes to the HD6xx line over their years caused a change in sound or whether it's just due to the earpads flattening out over time. So far I've been too busy collecting and not collecting 'stats to care, but might pick up a dynamic headphone for the Dynalo Mini so need to do some preliminary research. I still have a few trusty vintage orthos (Fostex T10, T20v1, T20v2, T40v1, Concept CE-H, Realistic Pro 30) laying around if I want planar sound.

<3 K1000 <3 really wish I hadn't sold mine. Especially because I think the buyer just flipped it. I discovered at meets that even some owners don't know how to operate them correctly, let alone the passersby.

Agreed with Penelopez... for me: HD600 > HD650 > K501 > K601 > K701 >>> T1 >>(near here is the cutoff where headphones need to be hurled into the sun)>>>>>>>>>>>> DT990 > DT770 > K240 Sextetts > Grado GS1000/PS1000 > any Ultrasones. That Beyer treble is a real killer And now I'm just going to unsee this thread to keep from getting in on the Massdrop. Good luck, Dusty

You could buy 100 Le sacre du printemps LPs for $3200

Mtoc why are you buying headphones and attenuators when you don't have a working computer? please stay safe

Wow that was a bad blowout. Scoring 129 pts on the Warriors or even in general is no joke; some of the offenses this year are gonna be downright scary.

Yo leeperry, I see you screenshotting my above HC post in your HF FS ad, so I'ma screenshot on HC your screenshot on HF of my above post on HC:

Curse you Bjarne. Why couldn't you just leave me blissfully ignorant? *sticks fingers in ears* LALALALALAALAALALA TALK TO THE SZELL HAND

Clearly Grado, Audioquest and B&W are the stalwarts of good headphone sound, and Stax with no sorbothane sounds like a hippo farting through a wet rag. This is the guy who said doing the port mod on the SR007 increases the bass.... and I just found this gem: Instead of using a headband, just hold the earcups next to your head! Best mod ever, but it will make changing volume difficult.

Remember that one guy with all the ants in his SR009? Imagine what it would look like with rodent jello

Hm, yeah I would consider getting something better but there just isn't any room to carry a zip case in my pockets, unless I wear a jacket (which is fine for half the year) or carry a murse. I repaired a friend's ER6i that had a frayed cord right near the plug, and decided it's just not worth doing repeatedly. That was an easier repair, too, because it was easy to tell where the break was, and being right near the plug means I just had to cut it off and solder in a new plug. I have my own ER6i but honestly it sounds worse than the Panasonic and the triple flange is a PITA. Guys who ordered the XE800, please report back if they are authentic! They most likely are fake, but maybe they sound as good as the originals.

Thanks! I think I can find them elsewhere like ebay for a few more dollars. I even found one that was 3 dollars hehe, not sure how much I trust them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/151752305190?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true I used these Panasonic for awhile and they do sound good, especially for < $10 but they don't have a mic. Sadly I didn't find a version with mic. Crazy that there are 37,000 reviews! https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Headphones-RP-HJE120-K-Ergonomic-Comfort-Fit/dp/B003EM8008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476974058&sr=8-1&keywords=panasonic+earbud

Happy birthday, Peter!

Thanks! That's pretty far outside my budget but the j22 might be good if it sounds close. I usually just cram my ear buds in my pocket for convenience when not using them and they become intermittent in less than a year so there's no point in getting anything expensive.

Anyone have recommendations for ear buds with mic that are < $20? I'm getting sick and tired of using iphone ear buds (long story)

Had an interesting convo with a luthier who is friends with Sam Zygmuntowicz (the most famous still living luthier in the US and the creator of the strad3d project). He asked if it was possible to design a piezoelectric setup to monitor pressure from the sound post to top plate and I said I don't see why not. I think I can implement a version of what I've been developing in my take on Krell autobias to forward to Sam for his measurements, so he can monitor in real time from anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions on a nice piezo resistor strain gauge for this purpose?
