  1. We are at totto ramen a few blocks away because ippudo west was too busy, they quoted a 45 minute wait and it was closing in 35 minutes when we were there.
  2. Listening to hfm Shangri Las right now. By far the worst headphones I've heard so far, sounds like a transistor radio from the 70s
  3. If anyone needs a small portable USB battery to charge their phone I can bring one (no iphone cable, sorry). I apparently forgot to charge my large one. Will try to be there in 30-40 You (people in general) don't have to drink to have fun, Dusty
  4. Never heard of it. I was going to go with a friend to the Sennheiser Canjam event tonight but he's being flakey last minute. Someone hit me up if y'all end up going to Ginger Man
  5. Yeah, I think a lot of people do that because there's just way too many regular season games to really follow even a single team properly. I usually just watch highlights the next day or two, and even for an actual game I only usually watch one half. Only a few more months until playoffs, though!
  6. Agreed, when the Rockets are in the zone then they have almost unstoppable firepower. Don't know how the 3 point barrage and average defense will work in the playoffs, though. You know what they say: live by the 3, die by the 3. The Wiz are my hometown team so I guess I should root for them. I wasn't a fan of Scott Brooks when he was with OKC, but he seems to be doing well now so that might be the most pragmatic choice for me. They're beating up on the Lakers right now... The Cavs lost 7 of 8 games in January and the King wants a playmaker so it'll be interesting to see who they pick up. Definitely seems like another Warriors-Cavs finals this year, and the Cavs need all the help they can get against the Dubs with KD.
  7. So many people are balling out their minds this season! Harden and Westbrook of course, Curry is now back to last year's MVP form, Isaiah Thomas, KD, Giannis, Embiid would have even bigger numbers without a minutes restriction and he's technically a rookie. Since the Lakers are still a dumpster fire, I need a team to temporarily bandwagon.
  8. Thanks! I will probably bring my Concept CE-H and ECR500 then, because most likely there won't be any others there and redundancy sucks.
  9. Are we supposed to bring any gear to the meet? I kind of want to bring one of my vintage orthos to show something that can work and be reliable for decades instead of just months.
  10. Warriors dropped 77 in the first half. On the same night, this happened: https://twitter.com/World_Wide_Wob/status/826980811253559296/video/1
  11. Hm, how about mounting SMT versions of Linear JFETs to PCB and then attach normal heatsink with screw, like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/391354463361?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true Personally I would highly prefer not to mount directly to a case panel
  12. Please let us know how it is when you finish. Do you know where to source the heatsinks?
  13. Realized I haven't listened to an actual CD (above) in a few years, and listened to an LP fairly recently. These are strange times
  14. Here's a crappy pic of it side by side with an alpha. Thanks Gael!
  15. You're going to have to do a lot better to get even close to Patrick82's level. Start with some Valhalla and rabbits, then learn some cool quotes like "If audiophile comes and listens to my system he would get shocked ... I don't want my home to be filled with dead bodies."
  16. 12% off all* orders at Arrow for Chinese New Year https://www.arrow.com/ *not really
  17. Just throwing another idea out there... Tim Ho Wan, a dim sum place, just opened. No idea if it's any good, but there are or at least have been super long wait lines. Brunch in NYC usually implies (possibly bottomless) drinking, but I think that's a pretty bad idea on Sunday. Jude and Fang, etc, will probably at the meet.
  18. I don't remember where that was, but definitely. The most popular place which every tourist goes to is Ippudo, but there can be an hour long wait depending on when you go. There are two locations, one in lower east side and another on like 54th in the west side or something. Somewhat pricey. I can look into more places if you want. Edit: forgot to mention Proletariat is extremely tiny so groups not really possible, especially at peak times
  19. Rattle n Hum is alright, not as good as Ginger Man beer-wise but during peak hours GM is probably going to be hectic. The hipster choice in Manhattan is Proletariat, but it's far from GM/RnH/the hotel so would have to take the subway(edit: or taxi/uber/etc).
  20. Yeah, I think pretty much everyone at HC is at that point. We've also been through many, many FOTMS, enough to develop very keen bullshit detectors.
  21. He clarified with an addendum that he meant in the context of 24-bit hi-res data. Little does he know that "modern" DACs use 1 to 6 bits of equal weighted 1-bit DACs... That said, some of the people in the thread on SBAF are kind of going off the rails with the multibit zealotry... some of this crazy fanboy talk that multibit sounds like angels are singing to you from heaven and DS DACs are unlistenable with no emotion. One of them did admit he was drinking heavily when he posted his crazy talk, so I guess it's not so different from HC.
  22. Wow, I had no idea about the amps. Tried to look up the Transdyn and still not sure what it is, other than ridiculous. Makes you think twice about buying any of their Quad ESL stuff.... Edit: found the HF thread. That escalated quickly. Sounds like it's some method of loudness EQ based on loudness contours.
  23. I would guesstimate less than 15 people in the entire world have both an Ergo AMT and TakeT H2. 15/7.4 billion = you are in the top 2.02 * 10^-7% of the planet!!! You can be the new leader of the Team Fuglyphone HC contingent. Interesting... wonder what happened. I think I talked to Hirsch about getting our Jecklin Float 'stats refurbished but I forgot for awhile and never contacted him about it after that. Mine still needs a refurb, I wonder if he had his done. yesss please do. $3000 is still too much for most people, including me, just to buy and open up. Especially when it looks like they bent a couple coat hangers, attached some scrap pieces of leather, and then called it a headphone. Probably why no one has done it so far. Edit: look at how uncomfortable everyone looks in this pic
