I'm interested in 2 negative GRHV supply PCBs if possible

A bit of what everyone else said. An RIP to Bill O'Reilly at Fox though I'm sure he'll keep doing what he's doing somewhere else, a preemptive RIP to his replacement Tucker given his track record, an RIP to progress in America, and finally, somewhat of a counter troll to Wayne given his 15 right wing troll posts per day on Facebook

Thanks. The HD6x0 already has some mid-bass bloom and poor low bass extension so more mid-bass would definitely not be my cup of tea. This compromise is largely due to a design decision by Sennheiser to use velour pads, which are leaky. If you replace them with sealing leather pads they will become bass monsters and not in a good way because of said design decision.

Given that same line of reasoning, why wouldn't this be the case for most if not all dynamic headphones? They all inherently have this resonance frequency hump. Not trying to be pedantic or ornery, genuinely curious as to your opinion. I haven't really owned a dynamic headphone since around 2010 and probably won't ever again.

Firstly, the measurement says around 47 ohms like RudeWolf says. Secondly, that measurement is for the old LCD2, which the M1060 is based on. I think Audeze modified the diaphragm trace impedance to 70 around the time they introduced the Fazor elements. Finally, even though orthos have fairly flat impedance, they still really don't like high output impedance amps because they tend to have low mechanical damping. Audeze actually make this a point of pride to show how low the bass extends. Not only that, one of the claimed reasons there's so many Audeze driver failures is due to pressure on the ultra thin diaphragm from the seal. So Audeze made the design leaky which alleviates pressure but also adds that bass reflex effect.

You mean they exist? So sad to hear about Isaiah's sister. Watching the game now, can't believe he decided to play but hope he's fire tonight.

The K1000 is definitely a niche headphone, it does things no other headphone can do but its strengths are also its weaknesses. Ultimately I found the Sigma Pro to have that out of head soundstage while being easier to live with, despite not really sounding very similar. In fact the K1000 seems to measure a lot like a Lambda above 80Hz or so.

It's not just the bass seal, the high frequency wavelengths approach rhe distance between the driver and the microphone so it's highly directional, and I think something is weird about those measurements as well as the lack of seal. Definitely not an easy task to take measurements that accurately represent what is happening in people's ears, which are all different anyway. And it's certainly still more objective than the typical head fi review.

I believe Sorrodje posted that he wasn't satisfied with the first iteration of measurements and was thinking of redoing them eventually, but could be wrong. Fellow SR-007 dislikers unite Interesting info on the seal, thanks. Could be cause for future investigations. I don't experience that bass hump and roll-off of the imperfect seal when I'm listening on any of my Lambdas. Still need to hear all the SR-LX00s but but yeah it looks to be a little leaky by design which is more repeatable and easy to achieve across different heads.

What Birgir said. I really wouldn't worry about it too much, as the new ribbon cables are all 5 pin so if you use them to recable old normal bias headphones with cloth cables you have to take extreme caution and remember not to plug them in pro bias sockets. Risk of damaging drivers outweigh a minimal potential increase in SQ IMO. Using extension cables is another story as I did find the old ones to alter the sound. Were you and Sorrodje planning on redoing your vintage Stax measurements? I see Tyll has posted some new measurements on Innerfidelity but most of them are measured with poor seal and he clearly changed something in the coupling/measuring setup compared to before because the measurements are vastly different from his previous Stax measurements. Sort of similar but not a 1:1 analogy IMO. Pianos are kind of like cars, in that they depreciate. They are different from cars in that every piano, even of the same model, is different. A lot of the times it makes more sense to buy used, if you find the "right" one. If you buy an amp with only 100V transformer windings, whether it's new or used doesn't really matter, and each amp presumably sounds the same.

The second batch of headphones is about to be released (ETA 4/17/2017 according to the website) so it would be best to wait until people get their hands on the new ones to see what's different, if anything.

Truly horrible customer service. They clearly don't respond to emails so I will give them a strongly worded call on Monday.

All I want is for Lance to blow in LeBron's ear again.

The positive rail GRHV already has the little +-15V supply built in so you can just use that, and similarly a little 7812 or similar regulator with heatsink could be used for the DC heaters. IIRC the universal PSU is basically just a KGSSHV PS with an extra C- and 7815/7915 PS so it would be better to go with the GRHV

Good idea! I just called and they want to charge $12.50 for just one RCA jack. Dear lord. I guess they can charge whatever they want when no one can find whatever part they're using. Gonna try to see what can be done under warranty.
-
I thought the ksa1156 only has breakdown of 400V? Do you mean the 2sa1486 or stn9360?
-
Thanks! That's the closest thing I've seen so far, but then again I hadn't even found any PCB style jacks with chassis mounting hole in my search... Sadly the bottom pins aren't in the same place and there are no locking tabs like in your link. I'm not so sure about overall dimensions, either. Definitely tough. I emailed Emotiva, hopefully they will get back to me tomorrow with a part number.
-
Anyone recognize this RCA socket and have the part number? Single channel and has that mounting hole on the top left. Also, what's the best way to remove neutral cure silicone rubber off pcbs?

Sigmas are 6 pin normal bias so you shouldn't be able to plug them into an SRM323... Google Stax SRD7 schematics, then open up the WEE to compare. And read this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/677809/the-stax-thread-iii/8880#post_12611558

goldenreference low voltage power supply
mypasswordis replied to kevin gilmore's topic in Do It Yourself
300 ohm would be for the standard 10V references, you need to recalculate the voltage divider values for a 7V reference (the formula has been posted several times) -
Do you (or anyone else) have recommendations for doom/stoner metal similar to Electric Wizard and pre-reformed Sleep?
