I like the sound of that. So, Dusty, which weekends work best for you? And Marc, let us know if you're going to send the modded LCD-1 up here. I definitely wouldn't want to miss hearing it, with all the good things being said about it. I usually have lessons Saturday afternoons but may be able to schedule around them or move them, or we can just go with Sundays.

I think once you get accustomed to O2 bass, no other bass will do. Thus I will try to forget it exists. I don't mind a leaner bass anyway, as you know. Mini-meet ftw. And carpool ftw. Does it become a real mini-meet if I bring a couple of headphones? I'd try to bring the CR-620 but it's effing huge. Definitely no space for it in your room.

I shat a brick when I saw 256GB SSD and then I shat another brick when I saw the price. Nice. You should probably try out the mini keyboard before buying, unless you're going to hook up an external one. My dad uses a 10" Acer Aspire One and it's pretty cramped, so I don't even know how small the keys would have to be on an 8". Maybe you could just use your two index fingers. Edit: With the second one you're stuck with the 1.33GHz Atom, which is highly underpowered in most applications. Even the 1.6 and 1.66GHz versions aren't that fast. Edit 2: I forgot to add that with your eyesight and the small size of the screen, it might be hard to read stuff.

Thanks. I also prefer a leaner sound, but part of the appeal of orthos is they are highly mod-able, as long as the enclosures are relatively easy to open. I suspect one could tune either to sound very close to the other, given using the same pads. I think I read the LCD2 will come with velour pads instead of the leathers at RMAF, so they're one step closer to the RE5.

Just keep in mind the general rule of thumb: 10x power means 10dB increase in volume.

Any specifics as to why you prefer the LCD2?

The only price I've seen is $900 MSRP, which is kind of a completely different price-range than the Monsoons/what I'm looking for. There's also very little info on them and it's hard to find a place to audition them. I'd probably shoehorn an MMG in my room at that point, even if it ended up sounding like crap. Thanks for the info, though.

Anyone know any more info on the Magnepan desktop speakers? All news about them seems to have dropped off since CES. If it's not going to be available for awhile, I may have to keep on the lookout for an MM-702... I think I've caught the speaker bug.
