A little breakout board for the AD5254 digital potentiometer... so I can dynamically bias the Dynalo through my phone (through a uC). 256 step resolution but lowest full wiper resistance seems to be 1k so 3.9 ohm per step.

I looked into it and the relays and headers dictate the length of the board so I can't save anything there and it would probably only shave about 1-2mm off the width of the board, which probably isn't enough to do anything. Plus the DIP switch hearkens back to my horrible memories of grade school flip-flop truth table quizzes.

U1 needs to be close to RN2 which is not really a resistor network, it's a DIP switch to change the I2C address but it uses the same footprint and I was lazy. Will look into it anyway, thanks.

Drew up a little relay board for I/O since the one in the recent group buy one didn't quite fit what I wanted to do. Mainly it was that I needed to use I2C instead of SPI and I want to try stacking XLRs sideways to save space on the back panel. Any suggestions on how to improve it are appreciated. 0.3mm width traces

This has been covered ad nauseam already, with many manufacturers trying similar things. Long story short, the proof is in the measurements, and it measures much worse than a conventionally driven Stax transducer even with the DSP. Theoretically, there is no humanly audible effect of a front stator with sufficient hole area, but even if there is, it clearly is vastly outweighed by the nonlinearity of driving the diaphragm single-ended.

People at Canjam NYC heard it already, including myself. I wanted to believe I was wrong that it sucks, but can confirm it is a fail and extremely uncomfortable on top of that. Why spend $5000 on a headphone setup that just sounds average and can't be used with anything else? They keep claiming that the HPEL driver is low cost and easy to match... if so, why are they charging $5000? Look up any of kevin gilmore's electrostatic amps for an improvement on your amp, and most Stax amps are better as well. Added bonus, they don't need Mikhail style tube rolling to sound good.

No, but it's the closest thing you can easily buy. Don't get the leather 507 ones, they are even thinner and I hear the L300 pads are even thinner than that
