Okay, screw bringing any amplification. You're our SACD/hi-rez man. Nice collection, dude. Including the Goldfrapp. I didn't even know Hilary Hahn recorded the first Shostakovich concerto. It doesn't seem to get particularly good reviews, though, and I think there are better violinists overall.

A very good contrast indeed, as the mids should also be quite good and different from the β22. Glad you guys met. If I'd known he was coming, I'd have let you guys know beforehand. Maybe even attempted to fly down there and crash at his place. Yeah okay, I guess it was a good idea I didn't know.

Because y'all are too lazy to make a thread, I made one for you. The guy in the first pic is my uncle (I was slightly taken aback when I saw the pic but found out he was a Head-Fi'er this past summer): http://www.head-fi.org/forums/6092529-post9.html

Colin, exactly when are you getting your RP18 back? Brian (BoilermakerFan) said the RP18 scales hugely with SACDs on the CR-620 so I said I'd bring the CE595 and a couple SACDs. Do you or Dusty have better (if you have a SACD player, it's probably better) SACD players or a couple of SACDs? As of now, I'm tentatively bringing: Yamaha CR-620 Sony CE595 SRD-7 SR-X Mk3 SR-5NB some SACDs

They certainly don't make it seem very appealing, but me likes my HF extension I always listen at medium volumes. Too quiet and I don't hear all the details; too loud and I kill my hearing and can't hear what's going on around me. Interesting that there's enough bass at low volumes... equal loudness curves mean there's more bass at higher volumes.

Forgive and correct me if I'm wrong, Don, but it's a bit of an inside joke. I like my treble flat and well-extended, but some people (read: most of the ortho crew) like to think I'm a bit of a treblehead.

Microsoft should list not having speakers as a feature. I was on the metro the other day, and this old white dude in a suit whips out his iPhone and starts playing U Can't Touch This, laughing, dancing, and feeling like the shit. It's not Apple itself, it's the douchebag owners who sometimes really piss me off.

My mouth just started watering. And I think I feel a lump in my pants. Might just be cancer.

I'm sure it would've taken less than 30 seconds since the model number is written right on the headphone.

nvm manaox found it

Yay for EQ! Nothing wrong with it, as long as it sounds good.
-
Can't you just set it on repeat? Did you think we ortho modders were just a bunch of nutters before this?
-
You just can't make this shit up. I laughed and then felt horrible about it.

How's the treble? And how fast is it? Need moar impressions to tide me over until I can hear it myself, dammit. More air and instrument separation than ESP950 sounds interesting, though.

Happy birthday! Lazy days are the best.

I'd pay to read Patrick82's blogs, so this may turn out to be quite good.

I like how the piano isn't even in tune and the the harpsichord sounds more like 444Hz and is super annoying due to whoever is playing it and the funky electronic effect at the beginning, which isn't even A but the other two notes of the D minor chord.

Impressions or ban

25 ohms, and the OTL MPX3 claims to employ no negative feedback. wat

Ah yeah, that's no good. And there's no telling what shipping will do to it, especially if it isn't cased yet. The Hafler and the Yamaha will do a decent enough job in driving everything, I'm sure. Dusty, tubes are good if the output impedance is low enough... Edit: lol @ Colin's comment. Saves on weight costs.

Might as well send along that F5 I don't know what Colin has now (probably something awesome) but think I'm going to try and bring my 620 (and SRD box) just for shits and giggles, to see if it can actually fit somewhere in Colin's room. Worse comes to worse, I'll just have to leave it in Dusty's car. And then he might get pissed it's taking up so much space and just chuck it out the window when I'm not looking. Don't let the conservative output power rating of 35W/ch fool you; this thing really grabs drivers by the balls and makes them move. Its sound signature is the epitome of wire with gain... extremely neutral, revealing, fast.

With the hordes of 'stats Colin has and the awesome orthos present, this minimeet is going to be epic. Thanks. I'll be bringing along the light modded SR-X and SR-5NB pretty much as a frame of reference but they're most likely inferior.

I wish I could hear a T50v1 to actually know what class that is, but by all accounts, it's amazing. My definition of good sound seems to be kind of different from the majority, even of the ortho crew, so don't let my craziness get to you. I actually think mids that are too forward are fatiguing; moreso if they're aggressive. Not sure about a bass hump headphone, I've always immediately damped my orthos upon receiving them and the only bassy headphone I owned that I didn't mod was the MP Sextett, which I immediately sold off. Can't wait for your impressions on the HE5 and a comparison with the LCD2 later on.

x3 I never wear watches and probably never will, but it's $5.

I'll hopefully be able to listen to them firsthand so it won't matter what Colin says about them (to me). Awesome, can't wait to hear them.
