  1. I think volume matching might have indeed been an issue if you were just judging by hearing instead of an SPL meter. Once I complete the SR-X Pro it should be a great headphone to do comparisons with, if that's going to happen. I've sold my SRM-1/Mk2 though so it'd have to be out of the receiver -> SRD-7 Pro. I'm sure Hirsch has plenty of really great headphones and amps to use. Cool, I look forward to eventually hearing it.
  2. You could probably ask Steve to make you a custom one that fits the O2 exactly as he already has experience with that.
  3. Did you post your thoughts on sound of the Sabre tooth dac in the BDP-83 thread? If so, I must've missed them.
  4. Two tickets to ATOS Trio concert at Carnegie Feb 12th
  5. Is there any way to fix the issue of some posts getting word wrapped too far in? Sent from someone's Dell using Firefox
  6. Drilling out the center pin should be fun. Especially if I manage not to lose an arm in the process. I just thought of a good mod for the ET1000. I'd really be curious as to what it sounded like with some mineral wool in there, but since I don't have any, I'll just felt up the backs of the cups.
  7. x3 I just did only the driver swap on the SR-X, but haven't tied the bias wires together yet, and haven't wired up the pro bias SRD board. I'll get around to that tomorrow. Maybe.
  8. I'm starting to think there never was an HE5 created in this world. Everything is just in our minds, and the sound sig is from deep within our subconscious.
  9. Heh, I'm right there with you on that. No doubt the 007t is underpowering the O2, but I think I might really like the 404LE. And if Aman gets a pair, I'll be able to try before I buy, for once.
  10. I like them too. At some point in time I will have the full set of original Lambdas (normal bias, pro, and sig), that I shall dub the holy troika.
  11. Here's some graphs, pics, and comparisons for ya: Google Translate
  12. True, any of the Sigmas will also work. I sometimes pretend I'm Magneto when I'm wearing the Jecklins, otherwise I would have gone completely off the deep end by now.
  13. Glad to convert you. Now starts your long and expensive journey into the world of 'stats. If you want to try a 'stat with soundstage I should mod my Jecklin Float 'stats in the next couple of weeks for you to hear. But the Lambda soundstage isn't by any means small. The 404LE should sound really good and I'd be very interested in your comparing the two.
  14. Super sexy, both internally and externally. You can definitely pick up chicks with that.
  15. Ouch, that hurts, man. I just ripped out the stock damping. Much nicer now imo. I may put back just a thin layer of craft felt or something since I'm pretty sure there's a reason they put that thick layer of cotton there in the first place. Hm, did you? It's why I sold my SR-Lambda, a Lambda for a Lambda since I wasn't supposed to buy anything and felt super guilty. It has a couple of issues that need addressing though... originally I was just going to use it for parts. I might still, actually.
  16. Sounded like a really great time. I can't wait for Asr's pics and some more impressions. This new meet sounds interesting... hmm....
  17. I ripped off the pads from my Philips electret headphones since the drivers are fubar anyway and put them on the ET1000. Circumaural goodness. Next step is to remove some of the stock damping. Birgir, when you had one, did you experiment with playing around with damping? It's definitely overdamped for me, too fast and too bright. In other news, it seems I have made AmanGeorge a full-on Stax convert! He's the one who bought the SR-Lambda + SRM-1 Mk2 from me, and he prefers it to the HD800. So suck it, dynamics! A 30 year old headphone beat the best of the current production headphones. Long live planars!
  18. Aha! So we Asians also have a natural advantage in this new environment.
  19. Hell yeah Maryland. We have uh.. crabs. Except they're not really from here anymore. And I don't mean the STDs, though I'm sure we have that, too. You should come to the March meet in VA. In regards to moving, it sucks and I'd take the easy way out, eg throwing away or selling the crap I didn't need, to make the load lighter and the move easier.
  20. Stretch is still more or less sober for another week or so. Why is it making me use quick reply.
  21. Cool, I'll just use the stock cable then. I was planning on using the ESP950 cable Marc very kindly sent me. Time to figure out the fiddliness... and put in Birgir's pro bias board.
  22. Don't forget the stat nerds. Interestingly, I am part of all three camps.
  23. Yeah a bit brighter. I was afraid the stock wires in the SR-X cable couldn't handle pro bias, do you think they can?
  24. It has improved a lot over the last two or so hours, and is now barely perceptible (I'd guess ~1dB?). I'm gonna run them in for a bit longer but I'm thinking it is the fabric damping issue and I will cut a hole in the other side to match to see if that's the problem. I'm going to use the cliched bumblebee analogy in describing its speed... it doesn't know it can't go that fast, which is how it does. Really really fast. Listening to 15 Steps (Radiohead) and The Creator Has a Mastertape (Porcupine Tree) is an experience. It is slightly bright so you may not like it too much. And yes, once I find my stash of WPI jacks and plugs I will make the SR-X Pro and let you know. I'll look again today, but some places in my house are quite a bit of a mess.
