If Colin is right, which he probably is, you just set the bias to what it's supposed to be (300V) on the KGSS and all is well. And have another jack for pro bias.
This would explain a lot. I was wondering how pretty much every ESP950 had problems, when Koss isn't otherwise known for QC issues. Nice discovery, Colin.
So that's what wualta looks like! Also I'm glad I'm not the only one bringing my headphones around in plastic bags.
A lot of great gear there and it looks like the meet was a great success. Wish I could've been there but I just don't live close enough.
An SRM-1 Mk2 is a popular choice and it is way, way less than $1000. I had a hard time selling mine at what I think is a very meager cost, especially compared to some of the amps Stax produce today.
Yeah one of these I'm definitely going to buy some recipe books and make stuff. I sort of helped make what is apparently a Russian snack, translated to "cheese salad" a couple of days ago. Coursely grated cheese + homemade mayonnaise (consisting of egg yolk, a bit of water, and a cup of canola oil) and some garlic, mixed a bit and spread over bread. Very easy to make and tasty.
What I would give to be able to cook like that...
I just had brunch: Bowl of oatmeal, Pop Tart (S'more), peppered egg sandwich, egg (sunny side up), some peanut brittle, chocolate, an Entenmann's donut, and a buttered cinnamon raisin bagel.
Oh good, I thought I was gonna be made fun of if I said I had mine all the way out sometimes. Usually it's in the 40% to 70% range though, depending on the recording. Definitely do not like it all the way in, either, not even counting the fact that the screen touches my ears.
I'm always glad to see our hearing is so similar. Makes it seem like I'm not just making shit up and pulling stuff out my rear end.
And silly previous owner, overspray is for graffiti.
Wishing you a quick recovery! And I think it is a good idea to take heed of your mortality (which is true of anyone at any age) and take care of yourself as best you can.
I swear I bought a "5 pin" cable from the dude but he ended up sending me a second normal bias Lambda cable. Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot and actually just bought two normal bias Lambda cables. Stupidity is one of my best virtues. Anyone want to buy the second one off me or trade for a 5 pin? Maybe Colin wants to trade for some drivers?
Damn yeah that's hardcore and requires super steady hands. There's probably no way you can use some sort of helping hands for fear of further ripping the wire. Best of luck in the crazy repair job.
Completely unrelated, but I've been experimenting with toe in and currently think that I like it fairly open, I think right around the halfway point from maximum. Closing it in too far causes the bass to be muddy and unresolving and the treble to be metallic and rolled off and everything to be congested and slow. The best solution imo is to have it open pretty far out and have an amplifier that can bring out the bass.
Edit: Whoops, too slow. Looking good!
Agreed. Glad the break wasn't actually in the voice coil itself though, at that point I'd just throw up my hands (literally, right out of my mouth) and give up.
I find this to be a great reason behind nearly any right or wrong-doing ever, and all of a sudden things start making sense.
The T1 FOTM is coming around too fast, I don't have the monies to buy an offloaded 404LE yet.
Ah okay, thanks.
Screens are there for a reason and it's like removing the dustcovers on a 'stat: the safety of the drivers far outweighs the possible sonic benefits imo.
Dang, it's kind of like shrapnel from a grenade lodged in there. May the Restorer of all that is vintage-holy AKG perform a miracle on this driver. Btw sorry for being daft and/or blind, but where exactly is the voice coil in the third pic?
I don't usually use the wrist strap even though I think it's required, since they're usually broken on the school ones. I don't wear goggles, either, and haven't yet been hit in the eye. I didn't swap the racquet between hands all quick-like like with tennis players, depending on the angle of the ball, but now that you mention it I should try.
And yay Nebby! Are you thinking about attending the VA meet in March?
