  1. I'm not sure I understand how sticking four magnets together makes the resulting magnet better able to retain strength, and thereby helps sound quality. Unless it means the strength as in structurally (still doesn't explain how it helps sound quality). And how do stronger magnets more accurately move the diaphragm? As it is now, both of those "facts" seem like a load of hogwash to me. I can understand a more constant magnetic field in which the voice coil moves, would more accurately move the diaphragm. Using a nanocomposite material for the diaphragm makes sense, since you can make a diaphragm that's stiffer and lighter. Radial VLD magnets also are a cool idea.
  2. Oh, you meant the distortion spike. It makes sense to me that there will be increased harmonic distortion products with an increase in magnet strength due to eddy currents and whatnot. I still think that there is no point to increasing magnet strength and that achieving the appropriate SPL's in the electrical domain, in the form of proper amplification, instead of the mechanical seems to be the better choice.
  3. Heh, yeah I'm worried about the 8kHz spike too. I wonder why Beyer keeps thinking it's a good idea to have a treble peak since it really is on pretty much all of their headphones. The slow crappy bass and thin mids are also trademark Beyer attributes but maybe the T1 is different.
  4. I'm pretty sure I have seen at least a few things on this level of complete batshit insane mentally disturbing-ness, but the only one I can come up with now is The Wall. If there are others like this, I would not mind recommendations (maybe in a more appropriate thread).
  5. Free shipping, though.
  6. My brain didn't work right the first time around even after I had already watched through all of the episodes, including 25 and 26. In fact, I think it still doesn't work right (though not specifically because of EoE). Must watch again.... Yah it's kind of like that, but with more sobs and curling up in the fetal position shouting "Why?! Why?!".
  7. How about extreme nearfield? A la K1000. If you are getting a Lambda, I would not recommend the SR-202.
  8. That's like my favorite one. You didn't forget to watch the movies, did you? I like (some) Japanese headphones...
  9. Converting this cable to pro bias is making me rage so hard. Again mainly mostly because of my stupidity. At the end of tonight I will either have a working SR-X Pro or a fubar Stax cable.
  10. Damn, your bottom bitch must not be satisfied anymore and is scheming to undermine you. I think it's time to slap a ho.
  11. That does sound like my kind of movie.
  12. I'm pretty sure the EB has some insane bass hump, like +10dB, and he wants A LOT MORE BASS. So the solution is a high order low pass filter. No mids, no highs, no problem.
  13. Yup the clamp should get better over time. I thought everyone in the HF thread was saying the T1 had moar bass than the HD800. Perhaps breaking in the pads a little will make the sound bassier. It's good to know that the T1 is the first Beyer headphone in a long time to not completely overdo the bass reflex design, based on your impressions. Leather pads might cause the sound to be too far in the other direction and there might be too much (muddy) bass but there's no harm in trying.
  14. Just made this in Mspaint:
  15. I love a good understated clean look, and I do like the look of the very macho T1, minus the velour pads. I hope they sound great, and not sounding like the other Beyers is a very good thing. What are the backs of the cups made of? Looks like some kind of fabric.

  17. Pfft, for you to use that quote you need to get an Alpha Pro Excellent and a real SR-Omega.
  18. I really like Lateralus, Undertow, and 10,000 Days in particular. Toole should listen to some Tool.
  19. Ah okay, seems some of the drivers still had issues, then. Either way I don't think I'll ever own a pair.
  20. K501 + 'stats? I see a K1000 in your future.
  21. Perhaps hand grips will help?
  22. 60g is good and average, which will be great since you will get used to the weight of the majority of bows which will make trying out others much easier. 56g is too light imo. I remember trying a Lamy that was 56g and it was practically unusable for me. The new (pernambuco) bows are for some reason usually heavier than the older ones, maybe because players nowadays prefer more strength. And there's also weight distribution, which matters just as much as weight. I see that you have not forgotten good posture, which is really half the battle in playing violin. Do try to loosen your right shoulder and keep it down at all times and rely on the weight of your arm instead of pressing down with physical strength. The violin is a very delicate instrument and must be treated as such, even when you want to play loudly.
