  6. I hear this http://youtu.be/RgFGMkNgZ3w
  7. Went to work to finish up the data to show why the dean has no clue and does not care about the long term health of our college. Probably won't endear me to him. But fuck him if he refuses to talk over important decisions before he goes off half-cocked. Then came home and helped put up the Tim Howard fathead in Peter's room.
  8. ^^ Breakfast of Champions!
  9. Happy Birthday, Ric!
  10. Happy Birthday, Ken!
  11. Well said John. Merry Christmas to all HCers. It has been a very soccer Christmas here (with a few Assassin's Creed Megabloks sets thrown in for good measure). No travel plans here.
  12. Well, fuck that.
  13. ^^ This! I wrap everything in our abode, though I would gladly pass it along to someone else.
  14. I guess there are some people on Head-Fi that might see this thread.
  15. Dan, why even bother? CJ already knows everything.
  16. Wish there was a shot I could make this, but it could not be on a worse weekend for me.
  17. Sorry Larry and good luck and good vibes your way.
  18. Also recommended for using R on OS X.
  19. I use X-Quartz and it works fine. No malware/bloatware problems.
  20. @Brent - Nice!
  21. My logic is that shit will mess up and encrypted data just makes it more likely that when shit gets messed up it is way MOAR messed up when the data is encrypted.
  22. Do people really encrypt their drives? Does the risk/benefit ratio come out in favor of encryption for most people?
  23. They reverberate quite a bit if the density of material separating the cups approaches the density of air.
  24. Yeah, was not suggesting a mac at all and was going by some of the suggestions we use at EIU for students who want a laptop for use in the classroom as opposed to as a desktop replacement at home. We suggest a real world battery lifetime of 4-5 hours because although we have places to plug-in all over campus, in most lecture classrooms you really have to use the laptop on battery. So if you have 2 or 3 classes in a row, the 4-5 hours is a minimum with some reasonable reserve. As far as size we also recommend 15" as a maximum size because most classroom desks are not huge and people get pissed when you open up your 17" behemoth and push them over to the side.
  25. For once I agree with crappy. I do not see the point in wasting extra weight or limiting battery life to play the games you mentioned. For a school laptop, battery life is priority one.
