  1. meh. Maybe Malthus, but not Newton.
  2. x2 on that. But it is coming.
  3. Well I'm 52 and the HDD based music system has fundamentally changed the way I listen to music, and for the better IMO. Burning disks is not an option anymore. I want to be able to take my entire music collection with me when I travel and i want to be able to listen when I have the small segments of free time I now have. I still rip almost all of my music from CD's, but the CD's themselves are not really used after that. The pre-pro is a good idea and it is what I use in my HT set-up. I do not have a problem using a pre-pro in my 2-channel setup, but at that point I might as well just buy a DAC. If it is not a Sony then so be it.
  4. I do not know about this specific model but if I recall correctly, APL used to have a digital input option on the 3910 mod. However, I think they pretty much ripped a good chunk of the original electronics out and replaced them anyway. Anyway, I'm sure it is possible.
  5. In 2009 no digital input = FAIL. I will not be auditioning any one box units that do not have at least one digital input. If I'm paying for a great DAC I want to be able to use it for other transports (and yes I am talking about the PCM DACs).
  6. I currently use the Audioengine A5's in my work setup. I originally bought them as a stop-gap until I get something better. As it is they will be staying until I get the baby Harbeths and an amp worthy of them.
  7. No, it was going to be done but then we were going to deny everything and blame it on DannyB.
  8. No, it just means he's not on the list. There is a venue but all the details havee not been worked out yet.
  9. [automated reply]I'm sorry but your Head-Case status level is not high enough to be considered for the non-attendees list[/automated reply] I'm certain a "suitable" honorarium could be arranged. aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce aplesauce
  10. Me too. My wifes theory is because I am a man and don't use my ears anyway
  11. Perhaps you want to note that HERE We are very proud of the growing list of non-attendees
  12. If I did not care about balanced then I would go with the Zana, especially with the 880's and 701's. The 650 IMO is a toss up as to which one I prefer. If on the other hand I wanted balanced then I might have to change my opinion. No one AFAIK has heard the balancing act, but there are plenty of balanced betas softly caressing the ears of their owners.
  13. Excellent. I love my switcheasy case. I never even think about it or notice it. That is exactly what i want in a case. In transit:
  14. What phones are you planning to use?
  15. Hmmm... modded K340's? J/K, check your PM.
  16. Happy Birthday to Youz ...
  17. I'm not sure I would say firewire is on its way out for Mac's as they appear to be using it for product differention purposes between their lines, and then primarily their laptops. AFAIK all current MAC desktops (including the mini) have firewire 400.
  18. Ahh Ray Raynor, makes me feel old, but he could have built that power supply. As far as him coming out to "repair" the amp, he (or his elves) could always build a power supply at his shop and then fly it out and make sure everything else is alright with the amp. It may require more than one day but oh well.
