  1. The question is how do you get the DSD from the Sony to the dCS without a lot of hacking and cludging? The IEEE 1364 implementation looks pretty dCS specific and I do not think the Sony has SDIF-2 DSD out.
  2. I will be in a wait and see mode. I like the idea of this DAC (or whatever it is) but I'm not so crazy about how they are trying to tie it tightly to their transport. If they add in DSD support on HDMI and a few other items I might have to take another look at it. For right now I'll keep looking.
  3. Fresh Vidalias FTW.
  4. Happy Birthday, Does this mean you are xand2x?
  5. Unless I missed something, I was under the impression that the perfect wave does not do DSD decoding. I would be rather glad to be proven wrong.

  7. Mothers day gift:
  8. Not everyone is into writing reviews. I will certainly do a comparison when mine is finished but I have no idea when that will be and when I would do the write-up.
  9. Why? The digital side of the 840c is very good, very similar to the capitole MkII in specifications, and maybe better. The analog output can use improvement, but that is likely the case for the buffalo32s as well from my reading. Anyway, at this point I do not know which one will be better, but I am not dismissing the 840c out-of-hand.
  10. Nope (and you probably pissed off Justin ) just an owner of the GS-X. I have owned it for a while and it is IMO the most neutral headphone amp I have had the pleasure of owning. If your interested in using it at CanJam drop me PM or email and we can work out the details. I thought the GS-X would work better as it has balanced and unbalanced inputs and headphone outputs.
  11. I could certainly provide a loaner GS-X if it allowed me to listen to a loaner Neko audio DAC after CanJam.

    CanJam 2009

You can certainly crash in my room Bryan. Last I heard, Billy was planning to go, but that was back in March. I also started packing for CanJam
  13. Happpy Birthday old man. I guess we can't trust you anymore.
  14. A salute and a raised glass of the good stuff to your dad.
  15. Which is why they send these things out. No significant cost to them so even if only a small percentage roll-over, they make out like the bandits they are.
  16. I will be bringing the O2's and the K340's as carryon. They can both be safely brought in a soft-sided headphone bag. Not so the Omegas, I only carry them around in a hard flight case so it would be too bulky given the other phones.
  17. Al, I could ship you my Omegas as I will not have room to bring them with me. Two Omegas are better than one.
  18. Wrote a nice little letter to the IRS explaining what a rollover is. Only six pages but there were 29 pages of attachments.
  19. Then you need to drink moar.
  20. I'm bringing my camera. Luckily, I take better pictures when I am drunk.
  21. I don't know about better as that involves a lot of personal preference. But as I mentioned the Benchmark DAC1, Lavry DA10, Bel Canto DAC3, Apogee Mini-DAC, Apogee Rosetta 200 (also has an ADC), Mytek has a couple of models. Of these I have only heard the Benchmark, Lavry and Apogees, the others I am going only by specs and price. You really need to hear them yourself as in this price range they are all making compromises and you have to decide what compromises you can live with. No one has heard the Buffalo32s DAC yet except the guys at Twisted Pear. I did score one which should be shipping next week, so stay tuned.
