  1. Unless you are red-green color blind. On point, individual variation also plays a large part when dealing with biological entities. I will help out on any dbt in any way I can.
  2. Very manly vehicle.
  3. No I think he's a scarecrow, so he needs a brain.
  4. From ipodbj who is not bright but makes up for it by being irritating.
  5. On topic: I had contacted RAM about some mods to my CA 840C. I had a bad feeling due to them not really answering my questions and instead using some weird techno-speak that as far as I can tell is a derivative of pig-latin. Off topic: Does the PS Audio have a 176.4 upsampling option? If so, give that a try when the 192 kHz seems a bit too digital or harsh. I pretty much use that over 192 KHz most of the time.
  6. on the beer. Tied for my fave with Schneiderweise
  7. Good luck with that. I absolutely hated Organic Chemistry (Still do). But I do love hefeweizens. Which one?
  8. OK, healthy scepticism is what differentiates HC and HF.
  9. My point was that this is not an I2S interface issue as I2S carries PCM not DSD (PDM) data, thus the length limitations of I2S are not relevant to this connection. Only 90% sure on this so I'm certainly willing to be proven (not browbeaten) wrong.
  10. True but the length limitation on transmitting data via I2S may not be relevant here.

  12. At HC, thread derailing has become an art form unto itself.
  13. Hmm, not to sure about that. It is digital data but it would not really be an I2S connection as it is the DSD data that is being tapped into from the Denon not PCM based data. Unfortunately all my notes and such are back in IL so I will not have access to them until late next week. Im pretty sure Russ' ghetto connection using alligator clips was quite a bit longer than 6 inches, but then again I am male.
  14. You should be able to do it with any of the 19xx series. I have a an $89 1930 and it looks identical to the 1910 image. How are you planning to get the data to the Buffalo? i.e. what kind of connector?
  15. I've always preferred cable escalators myself.
  16. 6/18 - Drove from Charleston, IL to Kennesaw, GA 6/19 - Drove from Kennesaw, GA to Aiken, SC - Found out we have no chance of internet access until 6/22 - Drove to liquour store, bought bourbon - Drove back to the apartments, drank bourbon, .... better - Went to dinner, ate a bunch of sushi/sasheme 6/20 - Went to a great little coffeshop for breakfast - drove to Columbia, SC for lunch with friends - Spent four hours at edventure playing fireman - came home drank bourbon, had dinner 6/21 - Went to morning service at a beautiful, historic Episcopal church in Augusta, GA - Ate lunch at an Indian restaurant - Spent the afternoon at the pool 6/22 - Went to check on internet access and was told no way, no how - smacked ITS helpdesk worker upside-the-head - posting here
  17. Wow, I've been gone a few days and it looks like all the shit has hit the fan. Sorry to hear that about the SDS. At least yours appeared to be wired much better than a lot of the SP exercises in chaos theory. I'm sure there are a few good techs out there that can work on these. Oh, and bourbon is the preferred drink down here (currently in SC) when it is 95+ for both the temperature and relative humidity.
  18. On my ES-1 I no longer use the 2c51's and adaptors as I have had problems biasing the amp at times when I was using them. The 3D21 and 12Ax7 adapters seem to work fine.
  19. Yep, I believe we are actually saying pretty much the same thing. Now, writing elegant code, that requires experience.
  20. Programming requires logic, nothing more, all else is syntax. Of course, that is in my rather limited experience.
  21. QFT for QFT. There is no one size fits all model for for reviewing/comparing gear. While quick a/b switches allow me to hear similarities among gear it is longer sessions and switches which really allow me to notice differences. It took me three months of switching back and forth to decide between two CD players, that by price alone, shouldn't have taken that long. YMMV
  22. Recabling made a difference in the sound of the K701's (at least to me), but IMO a big part of that was recabling it to dual-entry and balanced. Oh, I'm usually pretty mellow about cables, but those are absolutely fugly. They actually remind me of the color combinations on my sons birthday cake.
