  2. At HC, thread derailing has become an art form unto itself.
  3. Hmm, not to sure about that. It is digital data but it would not really be an I2S connection as it is the DSD data that is being tapped into from the Denon not PCM based data. Unfortunately all my notes and such are back in IL so I will not have access to them until late next week. Im pretty sure Russ' ghetto connection using alligator clips was quite a bit longer than 6 inches, but then again I am male.
  4. You should be able to do it with any of the 19xx series. I have a an $89 1930 and it looks identical to the 1910 image. How are you planning to get the data to the Buffalo? i.e. what kind of connector?
  5. I've always preferred cable escalators myself.
  6. 6/18 - Drove from Charleston, IL to Kennesaw, GA 6/19 - Drove from Kennesaw, GA to Aiken, SC - Found out we have no chance of internet access until 6/22 - Drove to liquour store, bought bourbon - Drove back to the apartments, drank bourbon, .... better - Went to dinner, ate a bunch of sushi/sasheme 6/20 - Went to a great little coffeshop for breakfast - drove to Columbia, SC for lunch with friends - Spent four hours at edventure playing fireman - came home drank bourbon, had dinner 6/21 - Went to morning service at a beautiful, historic Episcopal church in Augusta, GA - Ate lunch at an Indian restaurant - Spent the afternoon at the pool 6/22 - Went to check on internet access and was told no way, no how - smacked ITS helpdesk worker upside-the-head - posting here
  7. Wow, I've been gone a few days and it looks like all the shit has hit the fan. Sorry to hear that about the SDS. At least yours appeared to be wired much better than a lot of the SP exercises in chaos theory. I'm sure there are a few good techs out there that can work on these. Oh, and bourbon is the preferred drink down here (currently in SC) when it is 95+ for both the temperature and relative humidity.
  8. On my ES-1 I no longer use the 2c51's and adaptors as I have had problems biasing the amp at times when I was using them. The 3D21 and 12Ax7 adapters seem to work fine.
  9. Yep, I believe we are actually saying pretty much the same thing. Now, writing elegant code, that requires experience.
  10. Programming requires logic, nothing more, all else is syntax. Of course, that is in my rather limited experience.
  11. QFT for QFT. There is no one size fits all model for for reviewing/comparing gear. While quick a/b switches allow me to hear similarities among gear it is longer sessions and switches which really allow me to notice differences. It took me three months of switching back and forth to decide between two CD players, that by price alone, shouldn't have taken that long. YMMV
  12. Recabling made a difference in the sound of the K701's (at least to me), but IMO a big part of that was recabling it to dual-entry and balanced. Oh, I'm usually pretty mellow about cables, but those are absolutely fugly. They actually remind me of the color combinations on my sons birthday cake.
  13. So the MSRP on the player is $15K and the nearest dealer to me is in Philadelphia.
  14. No, that was the problem (though in reality , a small one).
  15. It does when you are trying to make sure an event comes out in the black.
  16. Hmmm . ... the monster headamp pico .... the headamp monster pico .... the headamp pico monster ....
  17. I did not have a problem with them per se, but I did have to question why they had so many monsters present. Since they all had their uniforms on, they were hard to miss. If the intent was to get as many people in the company exposed to headphones and the heaadphone hobby, that is one thing. However, given past history it was more likely with the intent to make their presence as large and noticeable as possible. Did this have a negative impact on other vendors? I don't know, but I will certainly do my best to find out. But I'm still not letting in any Hutt's.
  18. Thanks Andrew. Although the player appears quite impressive, the fact that you were able to remember the conversation we had is even more impressive. I totally forgot about this player and our conversation until you posted here. Hmm ... now where did I put those memory supplements?
  19. Well, I guess I am either more pragmatic or less noble than you, depending on ones perspective Totally agree with that. Vendor pricing will not just be based upon space, but likely also by the number of vendor badges requested over and above some maximum number. If he wants an army of monster drones, fine, as long as they all have vendor badges. Intersteller criminals will be banned and we can place tire spikes at the entrance of all the rooms Everything is negotiable.
  20. Bastard! (As he feels a deep stabbing pain in his wallet). Unfortunately for me I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment.
  21. So if Dan doesn't want it drop me a PM. I need to replace my touch that went for an unintended swim.
  22. Me too. I discovered on Friday that my chest waders have a nice leak and I left my touch in my pocket . Currently DOA with little likelihood of revival.
  23. No harshness IMO. They sounded to me most like a less bassy PS-1. Some people likened them to HP-1000s but they still sound more like John and not Joe Grado can to me.
  24. I'll probably get one for my MS-Pros. Depending on how I like it I may get one for the HF-2s.
