  1. Well maybe I'm mellowing out but I actually thought zonto's post was not really that bad, even if he is a newbie.
  2. Except that the D5000 to me sounds worse than a recabled D2000 unless of course you prefer listening to your music in a boomy echo chamber. Never heard a D7000, and given its price and the competition, I probably never will. YMMV
  3. The problem is that the cable on the D2000 really, really sucks. To my ears they do change pretty dramatically with the recable. The only phone that changed more was the K701 going from single-entry SE to double-entry balanced. That being said, in both cases I did not have a problem hearing the potential in both phones and they did not absolutely disgust me on first listen as some other (*cough*ultrasone*cough) cans have. I would suggest you listen to them a while before deciding to recable.
  4. The happiest of birthdays to you sir.
  5. I have a pair of D2000. Buying them used they were a good buy but at least for me they were not keepers until I had them recabled (APS v3). At their price point they are bettered by my HD-25-I-II except for comfort. But overall for a closed can i like them well enough to use them at work as an adjunct to my K340's. Oh, and I did not see anything particularly egregious about Larry's burn-in comment about the New Force.
  6. EC Balancing Act running it er balanced. In my humble opinion from various listening sessions at CJ09.
  7. I prefer my music to not attack me.
  8. Thanks, that was very helpful since I own K701 and HP-1000.
  9. Contrary to the usual retort, I was mostly talking to aerius.
  10. You guys do realize that some might say that without knowing your source and amp that the HD800 impressions are pretty damn close to useless. At least that's what some might say.
  11. ^^^ Damn, that's good advice. Where did I hear that before?
  12. The MS-1's sound fine unamped but scale very well with amplification. I owned SR 125's and 225's and to me they were not a significant upgrade. The SR-325/MS-2 has a different enough sound signature to be considered an upgrade/additional can as does the RS-1/MS-Pro.
  13. Depending upon your major, the choice could be determined by the software you will be using. If it doesn't matter, get a MAC.
  14. Put up some fence posts and made sure all of the paper wasps on the property had a fitness of zero.
  15. Happy Happy Birthday Birthday
  16. Definitely dew eeet. Our one regret is buying a 20" iMac instead of the 24".
  17. That was definitely my impression from CanJam. The TTVJ FET-A was my favorite pairing with the HF-2. That would make a very nice rig. Having had it at home for a while it sounds better, much better in fact, out of the AA HPA v.1.0 than it does out of the GSX. Earlier in the year when I was able to compare the AA and the FET-A I was struck by how similar they sounded with my MS-Pro so that is not a real surprise.
  18. I have not pursued it yet but only because I have been preoccupied with some other things. I will likely contact Sankar next month and then go from there. How about yourself?

  19. Just being a smartass, wrong thread methinks.
  20. MS-1 is a better deal and then you can go straight to the MS-2/325 or even RS series/MS-Pro. You are paying the price of an SR-80 for a phone at least on par with the SR-125 IMO.
  21. Never heard of that one.
  22. I think there may be someone trying to sell a Tact s2150 amp if you look HERE . 3 coaxial inputs, 1 optical and 1 balanced, as well as direct analog inputs (ADC).
  23. Just buy Alessandro MS-1's and be done with it.
  24. FTFY
