  1. I did not realize you were running Roon on a NAS. I tried that earlier and that was what gave me my initial shitty opinion of Roon. I now run Roon Server on a dedicated Mac mini. Even though it does not have the dedicated, unbloated Roon OS, it has run perfectly for me. It is a fairly capable Mac and it is usually the only thing running on there, I really don't even run the "remote" app on there. If I am going to have a computer appliance that costs more than a couple of hundred dollars I would prefer it to be more than a single-use device. So until this starts having problems I am pretty happy.
  2. On a Mac you should be able to do 24/192 (USB 2.0 Class 2). On Windows you can only do 24/96 (USB 2.0 Class 1) with the default driver. I agree with John about MQA, most of the time I have it disabled. I can do DSD 64 but I have nothing higher to test.
  3. What software are you using? I can definitely play 24/192 PCM and DSD 64 directly to the Mytek over my network using Roon.
  4. Nice cutting boards by the both of you.
  5. Yeah, I actually did know that but I totally forgot. 🤦‍♂️ Thanks for refreshing my aging memory.
  6. All good information and I agree with all of it. I plan to spend a lot of time tweaking the sub placement, crossover point and level. I have a copy of the Stereophile review of the Cicadas which has a nice set of measurements to start from. I wish the sub had a continuous phase adjustment but it just has a switch, a minor quibble. I am still trying to decide if I want to go with the T/5i (Down firing 10” woofer) or the T/7i (10” front firing woofer and 12” down firing passive radiator). Not a huge difference in either price or size between them. I have always liked the REL approach to subwoofer design, especially for stereo uses so I will likely go that route since I should just try them. I am just not sure which one will work better as I have relatively little room to move things around much as you can see in the floor plan below.
  7. Happy Birthday, Kerry!
  8. Plays to the strength of the Cicadas, plus it is a great album for us old guys.
  9. Nice! Pro Tip: If you have it attached via USB to a computer the Mytek Control Panel makes it much easier to change settings and do firmware upgrades. I use network streaming on mine for music playback but I have the Mac-mini attached via USB so I can use the control panel.
  10. Thinking of adding a REL T/5i subwoofer to flesh out the bottom end of the Moth Cicadas. This will be for stereo playback only, no HT, in a small room (146 cu ft). Anyone, have any experience integrating a sub with the Moths? Or with the REL subwoofer?
  11. The Brooklyn DAC+/Bridge has a very good HP out that you can use single ended or balanced. You do need an adapter for balanced, but that just gives the opportunity to buy more shit. I do want to hook it to the GSX when it returns. You also have the option to use the volume as analog, digital or true bypass. I guess I’m a Mytek shill.
  12. Get the Sonic Frontiers and keep the Parasound. This is H-C after all.
  13. Stacked Advents were the bomb.
  14. That may just be enough to get me to watch season 3.
  15. I believe it was. I will have to see if can get a copy.
  16. Do It!
  17. Karen and I gave a presentation to a group of doctors (M.D.s) at one of our local hospitals. It went over very well.
  18. Yeah, this is good. Thanks Dan
  19. Yeah, pardon me if I beg off on that one but using Microsoft to predict what Apple will do hasn’t really worked that well in the past. Agreed.
