  1. Well, right now my netbook does not get a lot of use as it does not do anything that i want to do that I cannot do on my iPad. So for me it will have to run SAS and the windows version of Excel. So far, the net books I have tried are a massive pile of fail with SAS. They will run them, but it is not a pleasant experience. In fact, running it on the desktop over VNC on the iPad is much superior. I would not use even a 13" notebook in this capacity as I have one and it is relegated to desktop duty. Now the netbooks run straight Excel fine, but when I put in the add-ins that make it useful the experience drops way down. In using Apple computers they have provided a more transparent platform for my software. I spend a lot less time managing the OS and hardware on the Macs. In my old age, having more time to do actual work, rather than maintenance, is very important. That has been the reason I gave up on Linux a long time ago. Very personal and probably not mainstream reasons. The legal thing is also becoming an issue at the University and I definitely need it to hook into the network. I also may buy it off of a grant and then the legal issue is a current issue trying to run OSx, as Dan said above.
  2. Yeah, I'm really close to buying the 4gb 11" model. The two things of concern for me if I do go that route is the size of the SSD and how well it will be able to run parallels. It would be a net book replacement, albeit more capable. But at the price differential it will have to provide additional functionality.
  3. Good luck with the race Mike, hope that bourbon barrel works out. Sorry for the work schedule Al, but hey the Giants are in the big game! Spent most of the day going over my grad student's thesis defense presentation for next Tuesday.

Damn! Your reading comprehension problem is more severe than I thought. You do not even understand what you are writing. Please take two swift kicks in the nuts and call me in the morning.
  5. Well purple is the color of royalty, so it's all good.

Ahhh. Now I understand, you have a massive reading comprehension problem. Perhaps you should retire from posting now and go back and very slowly and carefully reread your welcome PM. Oh, and AFAIK Blutarsky and HPA are not related. Oh, and fuck off; just for the record I do not dislike HPA but I do not care for his reviews, so don't tell me what I like or do not like.

I know. Simply a comment on the fact that his post is the forum equivalent of a No, actually you do not get it. Perhaps you should go listen to some Jethro Tull now. K thx by.

    Blutarsky, is that you?

Many words do not a great review make. But I think his point had something to do with your comment not making much sense in the universe most of us live in.

Yep the guy on the right is Steve, who is an engineer with Lavry.
  11. Happiest of Birthdays to you Sir Marc
  12. That 11" model could make me give up my netbook.
  13. Happiest of Birthdays to you sir.
  14. That sounds really good. Bison is almost as good as venison.
  15. Just installed the disc free netflix on our Wii. Very nice. The interface is not as nice as on the AppleTV, but definitely more useable and you do not have to use those obsolete shiny things.
  16. Best of luck Bryan!
  17. Well the new AppleTV is worth the price for netflix alone. The rest is just gravy. I prefer the remote that came with the AppleTV over the remote app also.
  18. The end of Google is the end of the Internetz and equals 19.

But that's the thing. Cool people don't care about the cool list. And it certainly did look like a very good time.
  20. For some strange reason, I am not really interested in this new beast. That will probably change.
  21. I was just researching a cocktail recipe and came across some really good advice from Robert Hess about stocking your bar. His suggestion is to start with your favorite cocktail, find the recipe and variants, buy all the ingredients and experiment with that. Then move on to the next and so forth. Pretty soon you will have the perfectly stocked bar and you will also have a pretty good mixing repertoire under your belt. Of course that is not what I did, but then I am Part of Head-case and therefore Hard-core.
  22. Sorry for your loss Shelly. RIP Ranger.
  23. The happiest of birthday wishes to you both.
  24. Nice score Mike.
  25. To Shelly and Als list I would also add a vodka you like, orange and cherry bitters and Lillet blanc. You could make a serious dent in the cocktail list with those ingredients.
