Old curmudgeon ale

Since you guys are out west of here you may want to give the rendezvous rye from High West distillery a try. Just sayin'. The alamagoozlum is a bit sweet but it is pretty layered in tastes and goes down pretty easy. I want to compare the Oude and Genevieve in it side by side. Maybe tonight if I get home at a reasonable hour.

First did a quick comparison of the Boomsma Oude (old) and the Genevieve The Boomsma Oude is more subdued than the Genevieve and has less bite. To be expected given the oak barrel aging of the Boomsma. Nevertheless, the Genevieve appears to be a true Genever as the basic flavor profile to me is about the same. Next a cocktail I have been wanting to mix for a while The Alamagoozlum Cocktail 1/4 egg white 1 oz genever (Boomsma Oude) 1 oz water (ddi) 3/4 oz Jamaican rum (Smith and Cross Navy Proof) 3/4 oz yellow Chartreuse or green Chartreuse (Green) 3/4 oz gomme syrup (Scrappy's) 1/4 oz CuraƧao (Gabriel Boudier Dijon) 1/4 oz Angostura bitters Shake hard and long (no comments) with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. (I cut the recipe in half as it was supposed to make three)

Heh, I thought the warning was nice so I left it on. I missed the knife earlier Shelly and agree with Al that it does not look gaudy. I love the handle.
-
Nice! I noticed the ingredients for a few other Anvil cocktails have also been acquired.
-
Pink Gin Definitely better with Plymouth. As for the Genever, I am going to look for the Boomsma Oude and the Genevieve and do a comparison. Now who can argue with that!
-
So now that I almost have my life back there are a few cocktails I would like to mix up that call for Genever. Any favorite brands?

^^^ This. Also used to be a matte fanboi, but now it's glossy FTW.

Happy Birthday Mike. Wishing many more birthdays with copious amounts of malted grain beverages. And some hops.

No the palm was only for the fact that she immediately had us wrapped around her paws. We only do rescues. Our current dog is a 14 year old Rottweiler/lab mix, who just happens to also be the world's most laid back canine. When we got him he had mange so bad that his blood went sceptic. At that time he fit in my hand. Now he weighs 92 lbs.

Well even though it is costing a bit, technically we just filled out the paperwork to adopt a female German shorthair pointer from the Coles County animal shelter.

Damn I've been away too long. Congratulations on finishing the list Al. That Zombie picture is epic! When the fuck did they change the software? And what happened to my Last.FM list?

I use the gator as my daily carry bag to work. Holds my iPad, MBA, s95, pico amp/DAC, sunglasses, water bottle, plus an insert for a few pens, MBA power supply, etc. It is a great little bag.

Cannot disagree with anything above. Quite disappointed with Hemingway. I think you had a better port for the coffee cocktail than I used Al. Yours certainly does look better. That milk punch is a nice cocktail. Nice skin Al. That image is great. That looks really good Marc. I think that will be my cocktail for tomorrow. How did your Amer turn out? Looks like I know what my second cocktail will be tomorrow. Well since you did not kill him you can be canonized. You didn't kill him, right? Kudos to Marc for bringing the Arnaud's special to my attention. I really like it. Actually made another last night because the first one was so good. Tonight just keeping it simple with a freeform, most excellent, Blood Mar. Started with a Collins glass rimmed with a lime and celery salt. Squeezed a wedge of lime in the glass. Added a dollop of peppercorn infused Russian Standard Vodka. A smidgeon of organic Worcestershire sauce, a wee bit of garlic, a couple of dashes of Cholula hot sauce, a couple of dashes of green Jalape

I have two stacked 25" displays (HP) at work for the Mac Pro. They work great and cost less than one Apple display of comparable size. I have always thought the Apple displays were pricey beyond their worth.

My favorite new drink is still the aviation. I believe I like it better than a gin martini. The biggest surprise to me though was the tropical drinks. They were extremely tasty and well balanced when not made with premixed-high-fructose-drek. I was also surprised at how good some of the lighter drinks were. Like the very nice Aperol spritz that Al mixed up. Thanks again for the Sophia recommendation Al, it works really well in that spritz. Good to see you in the Anvil list mixers group Marc. That looks like a nice louche. I decided to sample a few drinks that came up earlier that looked interesting. Started with the Arnaud's Special Cocktail that Marc mixed up a while ago. 2oz scotch 1oz Dubonnet Rouge 3 dashes orange bitters Orange zest, for garnish Stir in an iced mixing glass, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the orange twist. I think a bit less Dubonnet with the Glenlivet, but definitely has good bones.

I thought that was part of the end user experience

Anvil # 28 Dulchin using the Esquire recipe (which can be found under the recipe for the Hoptoad. 2 ounces pisco 1 ounce dry (Hungarian) apricot brandy (cheated here and used Apricot liquer) 2 teaspoons Grand Marnier 1 ounce lime juice 1 teaspoon grenadine Shake well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. And DONE!

Anvil # 100 Zombie again using the Esquire recipe 1/2 ounce white rum 1 1/2 ounces golden rum 1 ounce dark rum 1/2 ounce 151-proof rum 1 ounce lime juice 1 teaspoon pineapple juice 1 teaspoon papaya juice (Guava nectar) 1 teaspoon superfine sugar Stir together all these ingredients (the juice in the recipe is what mixologist David Embury calls the "mystery ingredient"; it can be pineapple juice, passion fruit nectar, coconut milk, apricot, or cherry brandy -- just about anything this side of Romilar) except the 151 and pour into a 14-ounce glass three-fourths full of cracked ice. Float the 151 as a lid (by pouring it into a spoon and gently dipping it under the surface of the drink). Then, if the spirit moves you, take a match to this mixture; it will burn. Garnish with mint (either straight or dipped in lime juice and then superfine sugar) and/or fruit. (A particularly fetching touch: On a toothpick, impale a lemon slice or pineapple cube between two maraschino cherries and lay this fruit kabob atop of the drink). Supply a straw and, after two, a hammock. After three: a stretcher. I decided not too light the 151 rum on fire as I could picture my wife asking me why I thought it would be a good idea to set myself on fire as she was driving me to the emergency room.

Actually, we worth quite a bit. But that does not detract from the fact that you are a douche.
