  1. Well between the bad juju foisted upon Al and the cocktail fail that Jeff had to endure I made my own Handy based Sazerac and am including a comparison photo. Between the Handy and the absolute horror of the Californicated Sazerac I'm pretty sure I was able to transfer the bad juju to the bartender at the mixing room. Also realized I never posted the picture of the Blood and Sand I had at Rye over the weekend.
  2. Ewwww .... Wrong color, wrong glass, cocktail fail.
  3. I never felt not having a DVD drive built-in was a serious limitation on my net book. With DVD sharing in OSx it is even less of a limitation on the MBA, and as Dan said, for those rare times, there are external drives. That said, I still have a floppy drive on the lab PC
  4. Those are nice glasses Mike.
  5. I do like the color combination. Indigo and Saffron FTW
  6. Depending on the specific date, I'm in.
  7. Totally agree with that. Already ordered an SSD for the Mac Pro.
  8. Happy Birthday Jeff. (Lifts a Vieux Carre to toast the occasion)
  9. A Blood and Sand at Rye. A Naughty Sundress, Martinez and another house drink that I cannot remember at the moment at Bourbon and Branch. Excellent drinks and an excellent waitress.
  10. Yes. Yes you did.
  11. My guess is it involves Mt. Dew and the last living virgin in NJ.
  12. Fuck this weather! A Blinker x 2 2 oz Rendevous Rye 1 oz Grapefruit Juice 1 tsp Raspberry Syrup Shake and double strain into a cocktail glass. Express and then garnish with a lemon peel twist.
  13. Happy Birthday to you good sir.
  14. I'm such a sheep. Sweet-N-Hot Bourhatten, slightly modified with Carpano Antica filling in for the Dolin.
  15. Mamie Taylor Cocktail 2 oz Asyla Scotch 3/4 oz Lime Juice (fresh) Fill 6 oz flute with Fentimans Ginger Beer, stir, garnish with lime wedge Thank you, I will have another.
  16. Nice garnish on the Blackthorn Marc. Decided to retry the Blood and Sand, same recipe I used previously but substituting the Asyla for the Glenlivet OK Asyla must be bottled by Apple with added unicorn dust. I finished this off before I could get this posted.
  17. Much better cocktail name Al, sounds like something to be drinking while listening to jazz. As far as the beer versus cocktail battle, it's not a war, only a police action. Moving on from Left Coast Babs to the Blackthorn Cocktail 2 oz gin 3/4 oz Dubonnet 3/4 oz kirsch Stir with ice in a mixing glass and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry and a lemon twist. Moving in the right direction. Better.
  18. Nice Spritz Shelly. The Sparkling water is a nice tweak. Decided to try a Barbara West Cocktail 2 oz gin 1 oz sherry 1/2 oz lemon juice 1 dash Angostura bitters Shake in an iced cocktail shaker and double strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. About as good as its name, mediocre.
  19. Been wanting to try an Arnaud's Special Cocktail with the Compass Box Asyla ever since Marc's glowing recommendation. So 2oz Asyla, 1oz Dubonnet Rouge, 3 dashes Fee Brother's Orange Bitters Recipe says shake but I stirred and garnished with an orange twist. If I had three thumbs, they would all be up. Marc has good taste.
  20. The absolute strap from Tom Bihn is the schiznit. It makes the airboss perfect. The standard Red Oxx strap works great on the gator and metro but was not that great on the airboss. The Tom Bihn absolute strap fixed that.
  21. Blackwoods Gin, Dolin dry Martini, 6:1 It is not crap.
  22. G & T - Junipero and Fever Tree
  23. Mmmmm ... Stagg. Nice.
  24. Tom Bihn: Absolute Shoulder Strap, Side Effect and Snake Charmer. Emotiva: XDA-1
  25. Almagoozlum comparison using Boomsma Oude (left) and Anchor Genevieve (right) same recipe as previous but reduced the gum syrup from 3/4 to 1/4 oz. As far as I can tell no difference between the two. Makes sense given some of the other highly flavored booze in there. Still a bit sweet but definitely not a pansy drink based upon alcohol content. I want to order one of these in bar, perhaps soon. What did you think of it Al?
