  1. FAX on! While I'm waiting I will have one of your Applejack Specials I was worried that it might be a little sweet but those proportions work quite well. Good stuff!
  2. Singapore Sling
  3. The Neko is a very nice DAC. I had it in my system for an extended audition. If I hadn't gone the Amarra/Metric Halo route I would have probably gone with the Neko. I also recall that the Neko could not use 176.4 input if that matters to you. I also have the Pico DAC/amp but never did a direct comparison.
  4. That's what I did.
  5. Great News Al! Go Giants!
  6. I have no problem with battery life with moderate usage. You cannot tether to the ipad unless you pay for utilizing your phone as a hotspot. You can tether to a notebook (or desktop for that matter) using the Android app, PDANet.
  7. I have the Evo 4g and it works quite well with the extended battery. The onscreen keyboard is at least as good as the one on the iPad, even with the smaller screen. Can't really comment on the Shift.
  8. No. I just hate not having one while waiting for the new one to arrive.
  9. Nice Al, never let a minor disaster get in the way of drinking, the true Head-Case tradition. I like that jack Rose modification Marc, I will definitely give it a try. OK, Suffering Bastard #3 is probably the closest to the original drink created by Joe Scialom, one-time head bartender at Sheperd's Hotel in Cairo which substitutes Germain Robin Brandy for the rum. OK I swear this is the last one.
  10. Damn I miss my iPad
  11. The 701's IMO need a bit of power to perform their best so you need a good amp with them. They are not far behind the K340's in their power requirements IMO.
  12. How did I know you were going to say that?
  13. I'm in the minority here but I quite like the Denon D2000, for a closed can with all that entails. And Dusty is correct, give the sony v6/7506 a shot.
  14. I take a bottle of Luxardo Maraschino cherries, remove about half of their liguor and replace it with brandy or cognac. These have some Maisson Surrenne cognac in them. Suffering Bastard #2 replaces Junipero with Bluecoat and Wild Turkey Bourbon with Smith and Cross Navy Strength Rum Damn, I'm just not feeling the turn. We may need a third kids.
  15. What a run of bad luck Al! To try and move the luck in a more positive direction I will mix up a Suffering Bastard Build in a highball glass or small mug 1 oz fresh lime juice 1 oz Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon 1 oz Junipero Gin 1 dash Jerry Thomas' Own Decanter Bitters 4oz Goslings Ginger Ale add ice and stir garnish: cherry, orange wedge, sprig mint This much bad luck will probably require multiples
  16. Because at Stereophile they deal with information requiring a Q clearance. Can't have people talking about all those nuclear powered amps on some random computer.
  17. Mmmm milk punch, good stuff and good looking too. I took some liberties with the Daisy and used the recipe from Imbibe!. I made a Rum Daisy that was very tasty. I have almost killed the Junipero bottle with a Golden Dawn 1 oz Junipero Gin 1 oz Calvados Maurice 1/2 oz Rothman and Winter Orchard Apricot 1/2 oz Orange Juice Shake vigorously with ice and double strain into a cocktail glass. Dribble a bit of real pomegranate grenadine through the drink and serve without stirring.
  18. Nice Cocktails Marc and Al. Note to self: Buy some Cynar already The (Appropriately Red) Communist Cocktail 1 oz Junipero Gin 1 oz Moro Blood Orange Juice 1/2 oz Cherry Heering 3/4 oz Lemon Juice Shake with ice and double strain into proletariat approved cocktail glass na zdrowie!
  19. and that works on the iPad too.
  20. Well they actually show quite a bit of phenotypic plasticity in body shape and coloration patterns but the dorsal spine numbers are pretty consistent.
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself. The main distinguishing characteristic is the number of dorsal spines being greater (7-8 ) in the black crappie compared to the white crappie (5-6).
  22. I think the crappie part already covers the ugly. They do taste good though.
  23. The vintage 17 here is about 50% costlier. ^^^ Nice.
  24. Not really
  25. Hope everything works out well for the little one Salty. Today we took the Ecology students electrofishing in Lake Charleston. Caught a buttload of neat fish, the kids had a blast and I think a few of them may have learned something. By the end they had no trouble telling a white crappie from a black crappie.
