  1. Mmmm milk punch, good stuff and good looking too. I took some liberties with the Daisy and used the recipe from Imbibe!. I made a Rum Daisy that was very tasty. I have almost killed the Junipero bottle with a Golden Dawn 1 oz Junipero Gin 1 oz Calvados Maurice 1/2 oz Rothman and Winter Orchard Apricot 1/2 oz Orange Juice Shake vigorously with ice and double strain into a cocktail glass. Dribble a bit of real pomegranate grenadine through the drink and serve without stirring.
  2. Nice Cocktails Marc and Al. Note to self: Buy some Cynar already The (Appropriately Red) Communist Cocktail 1 oz Junipero Gin 1 oz Moro Blood Orange Juice 1/2 oz Cherry Heering 3/4 oz Lemon Juice Shake with ice and double strain into proletariat approved cocktail glass na zdrowie!
  3. and that works on the iPad too.
  4. Well they actually show quite a bit of phenotypic plasticity in body shape and coloration patterns but the dorsal spine numbers are pretty consistent.
  5. Couldn't have said it better myself. The main distinguishing characteristic is the number of dorsal spines being greater (7-8 ) in the black crappie compared to the white crappie (5-6).
  6. I think the crappie part already covers the ugly. They do taste good though.
  7. The vintage 17 here is about 50% costlier. ^^^ Nice.
  8. Not really
  9. Hope everything works out well for the little one Salty. Today we took the Ecology students electrofishing in Lake Charleston. Caught a buttload of neat fish, the kids had a blast and I think a few of them may have learned something. By the end they had no trouble telling a white crappie from a black crappie.
  10. Nice overproof Knickerbocker Shelly. Marc, what can I say, you are a cocktail beast. As far as Bourbon, just buy a couple of bottles of van Winkle Lot B. That is pretty much my house Bourbon. An appropriate cocktail for tonight The (Bloody) Income Tax Cocktail 1 1/2 oz Junipero Gin 3/4 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth 3/4 oz Carpano Antica 1/2 oz Moro Blood Orange Juice 2 dashes Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Aged Bitters Shake, double strain and pour into a cocktail glass. Repeat until your taxes come out correctly.
  11. Positive thoughts for your mom and double-mint birthday wishes for you. I'm assuming DOTU can bend time to his will.

  14. Previously: 2 Noble Pils at Virgil's and 2 Sake at dinner. Now: a La Goudale
  15. I think it is actually pretty good at it's price point, but I prefer the slightly higher $40-50 price point. Lots of good bourbon there.
  16. Nice Raffy. having trouble finding the van winkle rye around here lately. the eagle rare is good stuff.
  17. That is awesome, unfortunately I have an early afternoon appointment at the Lego Store with a very persistent young man and then family obligations in the evening. Now drinking a Delirium Tremens.
  18. Good luck and congratulations Jacob and Bryan. Today we drove to Carlisle, PA on our way to NYC.
  19. Nice drinks Marc and Al, will have to try them as soon as possible and toast Gary and Chuck. For tonight no drinking as we are in a hotel in Carlisle, PA on our way to NYC. How is that Irish Single malt Mikeymad?
  20. Happy Birthday Larry and congratulations to both of your children. I spent a good chunk of today, the third day of our spring break, replacing wires between the satellite antenna and the switch and receivers. Our lovely new dog just loves the taste of RG-6u. The rest of the day was spent cleaning gutters and the refuse from the winter's ice storms. Can't wait for spring break to be over so I can get some rest.
  21. That's a nice Tom Collins Shelly. I like the glass. Next up is a Bourbon Dynasty 2 oz Bourbon 1 oz Lillet (white) 1 tsp crème de cassis 2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters lemon peel (garnish) Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Twist a piece of lemon peel over top, releasing the oils and drop in drink. Sit back and enjoy.
  22. Nice cocktail creativity Dan and Mike! Still trying to finish off some near empty bottles so I needed a gin drink and went with the Petruchio Cocktail 1 oz gin (1 1/2 oz Northshore #6) 1 oz Aperol (1 1/2 oz) ½ oz lemon juice (3/4 oz) 1 dash of simple syrup 2 dashes Fee’s orange bitters 1 egg white Place all ingredients in a tin and frappe. Add ice and shake until your arms hurt. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  23. I'm not totally opposed to 80 proof alcohol. I can always just mix up two.
